Chapter 3
"Can I help you sir?" offered the voice from behind Arthur.
Indeed this made Arthur's heart jump, he slowly turned around.
"Sorry sir, I did not expect you to be here so soon, I was just admiring these paintings, my name is Mr Longford." he replied whilst holding his hand out as to greet him.
The gentleman took his hand with ease " I am Mr Meadow , I was expecting you to call, what do you think of the paintings?"he asked.
"The painter is exceedingly talented!" Arthur stated looking at them and then proceeded to ask "Mr Meadow I presume you know the reason I am here , do you have any information on Alberts death?"
Mr Meadows body stiffen Arthur immediately felt bad for so be straight with him.
"He died by a horse riding accident sir in France , I do not know the details"
Arthur had a feeling he knew more but did not want to push him further, maybe another time so he changed the subject to Law he had saved this conversation if the first did not succeed.

After an hour or two Mr meadow showed Arthur to the door , as he stepped outside he saw Rebecca in the distance, intrigued by what she was doing he walked toward her. He was hoping to bring up the conversation they left the last time they met, as he came closer he noticed she was painting. It was a gorgeous day for painting as the colours were magnificently bright and shined from the light of the sun.
Rebecca so deep in her own thoughts hardly noticed him when he said "Good afternoon" Because she had not noticed him behind her, he just stood watching her swiftly move her brush side to side and piece by piece her painting came together like an unsolved mystery finally being solved. He stood there in awe watching her natural talent shine through.
Arthur surprised at her sudden movement said "Please do not let me disturb you, please carry on."
All of a sudden Rebecca jumped from fright causing her painting to fall over.
"I am so terrible sorry." As he picked up her painting.
She sighed and requested as she looked from her dress to his eye "Is there anything I can do for you sir?" She stood up as she packed her things away.
" I saw many paintings in your fathers study, may I ask did you paint them? they look similar to the one you are painting right this moment."
"you have guessed correctly, you must be good at studying people, at the moment I am painting the house and failing badly." Her face downcast.
"Yes I have to be good at studying people with being in the law, like your father" he commented.
"Aaah and how was my father?"
"He was well, Why do you ask?"
"Did you explain to him what you were going to explain to me?"
well that did not take too long thought Arthur.
"Infact...." as he handed her the painting back.
And with that, one of the servants came pacing up to Rebecca to say her mother was looking for her.
"I'm sorry until next time, Mr Longford" she curtsied.
"Indeed good day Miss Meadow" he bowed.
And as she did earlier she walked off without a second glance. Leaving him standing watching her walk away.
