Chapter 6

Later that day Grace knocked Rebecca's door.

"Dinner is served downstairs in the dinning room mother would like you to go
and inform Mr Dickens." Grace muttered toward Rebecca.

Rebecca took a deep breath she knew what her mother was up to and it annoyed her terribly.

"Grace tell mother, I will tell Mr Dickens this once out of good will but that's it.
Please ask her to arrange a servant to tell him the set times for the meals."
Rebecca told Grace politely.

She knew Grace couldn't stand being their messenger for them.

Rebecca made her way out of her room she and towards to the guest room he was staying in. She knocked the door and waited awhile. Just as she was leaving he answered the door. She became shy and embarrassed she had forgotten why she had come, she had only once became like that when she first met Henry.

"Can I help you? Sorry I thought you were one of the servants" questioned William looking straight into Rebecca's ocean blue eyes. Rebecca looked down after a second why had she come here again she asked herself, she hated to feel stupid it was so unlike her.

"hmmm, I just wondered what you thought of the guest room?" blurted Rebecca she was now mentally slapping herself what sort of question was that she thought to herself disgusted at how she was behaving but she couldn't help it.

"Fine thank you, the views are spectacular."complimented William as he turned round to look at one of the windows.

"Yes they are, especially at this time of the year." Replied Rebecca she looked anywhere but not his eyes, the minute she looked at him he was looking straight at her she couldn't put herself through this another minute.

"Indeed they are." commented William.

Rebecca nodded trying to wonder why she had come she was just about to turn away and remembered why.

"My mother asked me to tell you that dinner is being served in the dining room in
10 minutes." remembered Rebecca.

"Yes, I am afraid I do not know where the dining room is, it will take me five minutes
to be ready would wait for me and show me the way?" he inquired.

"Of course." Rebecca answered.

Once he had gone she thought why did I say yes, surely I could have had one of the footmen show him the way, stupid girl. It's not my duty to show him the way he has
two eyes and two feet.  And at that Mr Dickens reopened he door in a rather handsome dinner jacket.

"Shall we?" he asked while holding out his hand. Dumbness struck Rebecca again
why was this happening to her she wondered.

"Of course." she answered.

Before long they were greeted by her mother and father in the dinning room, mother being rather pleased that She was hand in hand with Mr Dickens, Rebecca just rolled her eyes. It was a very boring meal thought Rebecca, she was tired of the matter of fact conversations of no importance. She had now regain herself and was now very tired of Mr Dickens toneless voice and expressionless face.

Soon enough the dinner had finished but before Rebecca could escape her mother opened her mouth and declared "We have been invited to a ball from Mr and Mrs Wentworth's this Saturday Rebecca, and you are also invited Mr dickens."

"It would be my honour Mrs Meadow to accept the invitation." replied Mr dickens.

"Thank you for informing me mother, may I be excused?" groaned Rebecca.
