Chapter 9
As Jane and Rebecca walked up the Heartfield house the front door opened wide and out ran Jane's younger sister unlike Rebecca, Jane had several brothers and sister this one was besides Jane, Rebecca's favourite her name being rose about six years of age and as she ran out of the door she opened up her arms running towards Rebecca and Rebecca opened up her arms.
"Becky!!" shouted Rose with all her might she never called her Rebecca as she could never pronounce it right .
"Rose!" Answered Rebecca while picking up rose.
"Excuse me!" cried Jane, laughing.
Rebecca put Rose down and she reluctantly walked over to her sister and gave a little hug."Did you buy me anything?" Rose looked up at her older sister in a pleading way.
"In fact I did, don't tell anyone but here you go." Jane said while handing Rose a small sweet and with that she was very content .
As they walked up to the house Jane's mother came out in search for Rose and was pleasantly surprised when she saw Rebecca.
"Ahh, Rebecca how are you my dear? And hows Grace? It has been to long my dear. " asked Mrs Phillips.
"Yes it has been to long. Thank you we are both well. "
"And I presume your be staying for dinner, of course you will be. "
"Thank you Mrs Phillips."
"Now I came in search of Miss Rose Phillips have you seen her?" Mrs Phillips questioned knowing that she was hiding right behind Rebecca .
"Not at all, I cannot think where she could possibly be. " replied Rebecca shaking her head.
"Well I came for her as its time for her to get dressed for dinner as we have a special guest coming, I guess she will not be having dinner then." spoke Mrs Phillips as she huffed knowing it would do the trick as she turned around to walk back inside the house .
"Here I am, wait momma please! I'm so hungry!" As she raced from behind Rebecca into her mothers arms.
"Best behaviour then miss." she pointed her finger at her.
"Yes of course." she cheekily smiled.
And with that they walked into the house, unlike every other household the Phillips like to include the children in everything such as at meal times and evening times. Jane being one of five children meant the house was never quiet. She had an older brother who grew up with Albert called James and then the mischief makers her younger brothers Fitzwilliam, Thomas and then little cheeky Rose.
As Rebecca walked up to Jane's room, she heard the door go and it was answered, she wanted to figure out who it was but she could not quiet hear the guest because of his deep voice, it did not help that Jane was also telling her to hurry up.
As she walked into Jane's room she remembers it now and how many long nights she stayed up talking to her after going to balls when they just came out and the many laughs and stories.
"Will this do Rebecca?" Asked Jane as she pulled out a most lovely satin dress white with a blue ribbon round the middle tied as a bow on the back with lace at the top.
Jane always knew what was best to wear she was very up to date with dress and she also brought out for Rebecca a sliver necklace with a pearl in the middle.
