"Happy birthday Grace." Greeted Connie the next morning as her daughter came wondering into the living room.
Connie nodded her head towards the table alerting Grace to several beautifully wrapped parcels.
"Eekk!" Squealed Grace as she ran to the table. She turned to look a her mum.
"Shouldn't I wait for Jacob before I open them?"
"I'm right here princess, get stuck in!" Said Jacob walking into the room with two cups of coffee for him and Connie.

After Grace opened her gifts she thanked her mum and Jacob giving them both a hug. They'd got her a new outfit, a pair of pink heeleys and a new phone. When she'd opened those Jacob pulled another present from the back of the settee. Grace cheered when she realized what it was.
"A Nintendo Wii?! Wow thank you! This is so cool! Can you help me set it up please Jacob....oh and my phone to?"
"He sure can! But later. I think you should go and get dressed first... Put on your new dress." Connie said, getting a confused look from Grace.
"You want me to wear my new clothes? What if I spoil them? Surely I should save them for best..."
"We're going out in two hours, go and get dress Gracie." Smiled Connie.
Grace still had no idea about the birthday party Connie had organized. She had enrolled the help of Dawn and Emily to get hold of Grace's other friends from school.
Jacob had booked a big table at the Maple Tree for dinner with party food and birthday cake.

"Where are we going?" Asked Grace for the fifth time from the back of the car.
"Wait and see Miss Beauchamp!" Said Jacob.
The three of them pulled up outside the restaurant and Grace jumper out the car, her face beaming.
They headed inside and through to the family area, that's when Grace saw some balloons. Her head whipped round to look at her mum, silently asking if this was for her. When Connie smiled and nodded.
"A party?!!...YES!!" Running for the door, quickly followed Connie and Jacob.
Grace had a great time with her friends playing, chatting and giggling.
Adam and Pete had also arrived with presents and sat with Mark, Dawn, Connie and Jacob at the next table, it gave them all a chance to catch up.
It was 4pm, Grace said goodbye to her friends as there parents picked them up, things had started to whined down, so Connie went to pay the bill.
When she returned everyone was putting their coats on and Jacob was collecting up Grace's gifts.
Dawn approached her to give her a hug. "Thanks for today, it's been wonderful." She said.
"Its me that should be thanking you for organizing the invitations." Said Connie.
"It was nothing, listen Mark and I wanted to know if you and Jacob were free next Saturday. Pete and Adam are coming round to watch some boxing that's on and a few drinks, it'd be nice if you could come too. Bring Grace of cause, she can sleep over with Emily."
"That sounds good, Ye! Ok, we'll see you Saturday then."

"Night mum. Thanks for today and my presents." Said Grace, her eyes drooping as her head hit her pillow.
"Goodnight sweetheart." Connie gave Grace a kiss on the forehead before she left the room pulling the door shut behind her. It had been a tiring day, after tea Grace and Jacob had gotten quite competitive playing tennis tournaments on the Wii. Now it was gone 11pm and even Connie thought she could sleep standing up.
Jacob was stood in the kitchen waiting for Connie to come downstairs.
"Hey, Grace asleep?"
"Yes, I think she was asleep before she actually got into bed!" Answered Connie yawning.
Jacob pulled her into a hug gently swaying from side to side. "I think I know someone else who could do with her bed."
Connie looked up at him. "I think you might be right, I'm just going to tidy up first."
"No you wont, bed! Get some sleep. I'll sort it, you've got the early shift tomorrow."
Connie smiled and gave Jacob a kiss goodnight.
"Thank you muscles."

Just a short under date. I think I'm going to jump ahead a bit in the next chapter, I'm thinking along the Christmas...year anniversary lines. What do you think?
