Chapter Sixteen

The next day after dropping Grace at school Jacob and Connie made their way into work. It was decided that they'd tell Charlie and Zoe first.
"Congratulations, that's wonderful news, it really is!" Said Charlie shaking Jacob's and then giving Connie a hug.
"I'm so pleased for you both." Said Zoe. "How far along are you?"
"12 weeks." Connie smiled.
"Here look!" Said Jacob pulling out a scan picture he was carrying in his uniform. Making sure both Charlie and Zoe got a good look.
"As you can tell...." Connie pointed to Jacob. "We're really excited!" Making the others chuckle.

Connie was stood at the nurses station giving the morning briefing, Jacob wasn't far away grinning like a Cheshire cat. As she finished up, Connie continued by asking if she could just have one more moment of their time to make a personal announcement. She looked to Jacob and held out her hand for him to join her.
"I'm not going to beat around the bush.... We're having a baby!" Said Connie pulling Jacob closer to her side.
A chorus of well wishes could be heard from their colleagues.
"Wow!"
"Congratulations!"
"Brilliant news!"
It made Connie emotional to see how happy her staff were for them, things had changed so much since she had first breezed into the E.D.
"Right come on you lot back to work." Said Connie smiling, raising her voice above all the others.
She caught up with Jacob just before he went into a cubicle.
"I can take a look at that later if you want." She smiled at his confusion. "Your back?!" She clarified. Jacob still had no idea what she was talking about.
"What's wrong with my back?"
"Well it must be bruised from all the pats on it you've just had out there." Connie smiled sweetly at him, kissed his cheek and walked off. Leaving Jacob stood on his own chuckling shaking head.
The rest of the day was a busy blur of patients for both of them.

Just a short update, I wanted to move on to the wedding.
