Tobias's POV
Oh god she drives me insane! I love her so much. We're both drifting off after a long night. She snuggles up against my bare body with hers. I feel her body begin to relax more than it already is when a gun goes off. Once, then twice. We both jolt up and rush out of the bed. I toss her her clothes and we quickly dress. In situations like this, there really isn't time to blush or feel embarrassed, even though there's really nothing to be embarrassed about.
We run out the door. Tris pulls me towards the chasm. "I heard it come from here." We run without stopping. I can hear my heart beating everywhere, from my head to the tips of my fingers.
"Tris wait, please," I push her behind me and look around the corner. I see someone on the floor clutching their right leg, groaning in pain. Eric. Across from Eric is Peter. The gun in his hands wobble from his visible anger.
"Peter stop!" Tris is no longer behind me. He lifts his gun towards us.
"Tris! What are you doing?" My voice comes out in a loud whisper even though I know Peter can hear us.
"You!" Peters face contorts as he spits out the words like poison. "You! You don't deserve any of this! You only got ranked first because of... because of him!" He trains the gun on me. "I should've been first! Not her! That little wh-"
Everything happens in slow motion. Before Peter could finish, Tris already had her fingers tightly wrapped around his neck. He fired aimlessly into the air. I stepped on Peters wrist, making him cry out, and flung the gun far away from him with my foot. Being this up close to Peter, I could smell alcohol all over him. He was barely fighting back.
"Tris I got this," I put my hand on her shoulders,"go help Eric." I don't wait for her to respond. I pick Peter up off his feet and slam him onto the wall.
"What do you think you're doing?" His words slur so bad, I can barely understand him.
"Stopping you from killing one of your leaders," I slam him again. "Peter you're drunk, don't do this to yourself, Tris's ranking has nothing to do with me, Tris earned her rank! Unlike you who stabbed someone's eye out just to be first!" I find myself yelling at Peter, who probably won't even remember any of this. "You're the one who doesn't deserve anything! You're the one who should've been factionless! Not all the people's-" Tris rips me off Peter, who's now on the floor. I don't remember hovering over him on the floor. He lays unconscious.
"Tobias! Stop!" She grabs my arms. "Don't kill him! We didn't come here to kill anyone!" My hands are in fists, and my shoulders are tense. I hear my heart beating in my ears.
"I- I don't know what happened to me," I shake my head. "Tris, I'm sorry, I'm-" she puts her finger on my lips.
"Shhh, don't apologize," her eyes flicker between mine. "Eric is being taken to the Erudite hospital right now, they said that he should be fine, probably will have to use crutches for a while..." Her voice trails off. "Why does Peter always have to be first? Number one?" She shakes her head fast, making me dizzy by just seeing her do that.
"I don't know Tris, he's a power seeker like any other dumbass dauntless." I chuckle trying to shaking off everything that just happened. She laughs with me. "Come on, are you still sleepy?"
"Funny, and no I'm not," she puts her hands on my chest and leans on me. "Can we go see Christina?"
***
"Christina!" Tris pounds on her door. "I know you're awake! Is Will in there too!"
"Tris, shhhh!"
"Oops!" She giggles. Christina opens the door panting. Her hair sticks up all over the place, her lipstick is smudged, and she's wearing a robe.
"Tris what do you want!" Will shows up behind her with his hair also disheveled.
"I knew it!"
"Then why'd you even come!" Christina throws her arms up. "If you knew I was busy! Ughhh!" She starts to close the door but Tris stops her.
"No wait, I wanted to talk to you!" She pleads. "Please!" Christina shifts her weight from one foot to the other.
"Fine," she looks up at Will. "Sorry babe." She pecks him on the lips. I feel like I'm intruding on everything. I feel out of place.
"Uhh, Tris I'll be back at the apartment." Tris nods her head like an excited little girl and skips into Christina's apartment. It's nice to see her happy and stress free after everything that happened to her during her initiation. I forgot Will was still standing at the doorway when he started speaking.
"So do you want to get a drink or something? Or are you still gonna go home?" He scratches the back of his neck.
"No, thanks. I'm exhausted." I put my hands in my front pockets. "Did you hear what happened? Peter shot Eric in the leg. But they told us that he'll be fine." He gapes at me.
"I know Peters stupid, but I didn't think he would actually shoot one of the dauntless leaders." He shakes his head.
"Well, he was drunk so..." He laughs.
"See ya later, Four." I nod my head once and wait a while before leaving. I'm turn around to leave when I hear Christina scream. I go to open the door when I realize that it sounded more like a squeal. I decide against it, I don't want them to think I was eves dropping because I wasn't.
Although, I do wonder.
A/N: This is a really crappy chapter soo... Sorry I've been a little sick and some what stressed out. I promise you'll love the next chapter though😕 this ones really short and I probably have some mistakes.... Oh well😂
