Chapter 28: I Will Die For You

I ran back into the woods as me, no pain, no transformation. The spell didn't stop me from changing, it just slowed it down. I heard someone screaming and I ran into Damon, Matt, Caroline and Tyler as a werewolf. Tyler went to attack me but Damon got in the way and tackled Tyler. Tyler tried biting Damon but I did a spell and Tyler flew across the woods and hit a tree.

"Run!" I told them.

Then the four of us ran away from Tyler. Matt and Caroline ran in a different direction from me and Damon. I followed Damon and we ended up at Ricks. Damon was going to do something stupid. He barged into Ricks apartment and I followed him were we saw Klaus and Katherine.

"Why haven't you changed?" Katherine asked me

"I did a spell." I shrugged.

"Did you come here to die?" Klaus asked Damon.

"I came here for a trade, me instead of Caroline." Damon offered.

Damon was prepared to die so that my best friend wouldn't. But I couldn't let him do it alone.

"And me instead of Tyler." I offered.

"Tori no!" Damon stopped me.

"It doesn't matter now that you two released my werewolf and vampire but once you've been preparing for this moment for over a thousand years, you learn to always have a back-up plan, a back-up vampire, a back-up werewolf. That's why Jules and Jenna are dying tonight." Klaus told us.

I knew Elena would be fine, she would come back a vampire but Jenna couldn't die, that must mean Klaus turned Jenna into a vampire.

"You're as good as dead anyway." Klaus told Damon then he attacked Damon and Damon blacked out.

Klaus grabbed my arm and pulled me outside and into the woods.

"What do you mean Damon's as good as dead?" I asked Klaus but he stayed silent. "Tell me!"

"Your brother bit him Charlotte." Klaus sighed.

I stopped in the middle of the woods making Klaus stop too. Damon was bitten by a werewolf, he's going to die and I can't save him because I don't know how. He was really going to die, the man I loved....

"Charlotte, we have to go." Klaus said.

I wanted to cry but I wouldn't give Klaus the satisfaction so I didn't.

"I have to get back to Damon." I said turning around.

Klaus grabbed me and pulled me back then threw me over his shoulder and started running. He stopped at the place of the ritual and set me down. I saw Elena, Jenna and Jules in rings of fire and Greta was there too. I ran over to Elena but the magic ring of fire got in my way. I discarded the spell on the ring but kept the fire on it then I stepped over the fire and ran into Elena's arm.

"You'll be ok Elena. I promise." I let her go.

I put my hands on the sides of her head and she didn't fight me. Then I did a protection spell on her to save her from death so she wouldn't be a vampire, instead of her dying, I would. Elena's body and soul would be fine because I would take the pain and I will die but I was ok with it.

I let go of her then stepped out of the circle but then Klaus attacked me.

"What did you do?" Klaus asked me, holding both of my arms.

"You'll find out soon." I told him.

"If you've did anything stupid-

"Let me go!" I pulled away from him.
