Chapter 18: Speedy

As the days pass it becomes easier to not miss my family as much as I used too when I first got here. I guess that's what happens when you're so far away from them. Each day I start to forget what they look like, what they sound like and that once familiar touch which has now disappeared. With college assessments pilling up and the amount of family dinners and meetings that Nate and I have been to, I've started to lose touch with my family. At the start it was hard but I soon realised that I had responsibilities and that I would be busy most of the time. My relationship with Nate was the best part of my day, he and I are practically inseparable because he wanted to keep an eye on me all the time like I was some china doll. Sophie would be with me for every class and keep me updated. Or at least try to keep me updated with all the gossip going on around the campus, which happened to change every minute. I didn't mind though as long as I didn't have to talk about my family. Although I love them it was hard talking about them, I just miss them too much.

As my class finishes our break in-between classes starts. I walk out of the building alone due to Sophie leaving earlier, when I accidentally walk into a girl I hadn't seen before.

"Hi, sorry that's my fault, are you okay?" I ask and help her pick up her text books.

"Yeah, I'm sorry too. I have a class with Mr Waters but I think it's not until after break." She tells me looking flustered, while looking at her timetable.

"Yeah I have him next. We're in the same class." I smile reassuringly to try and calm her first day nerves, "You must be new, I get it trust me, the first day sucks but it gets better," I say sadly as I remember what it was like. But I wouldn't change it for the world, I truly like it here.

"Yeah I'm still trying to get used to it all. What's your name?" She smiles

"God I've been so rude, I'm Hazel." I ask holding my hand out. She shakes my hand and grins widely at me.

"I'm Ally, I just moved here from Australia. It's nice to meet you. It seems I'm not the only one with an accent either, so I'm guessing your British, obviously." She and I both laugh as I nod my head. Ally looked absolutely gorgeous; she has olive skin with her long brown and silky hair with light curls at the end. Her blue eyes make her even more beautiful, while her eyebrows were flawless and her cheekbones look strong and sharp.

"Yeah, I got here about five months ago. Do you want to sit with me and some friends?" I ask politely, not wanting her to be alone on her first day.

"Really? That would be amazing thanks." She grins

"Okay, I just have to wait for my boy-" I start get cut off by a pair of very familiar and welcoming arms wrapping around my waist.

"You mean me, right?" I feel him smile against my neck and pecks my cheek as he turns me around to face him. I smile when I wrap my arms around his neck and take in his appearance. His hair is messy from his hands running through it and already looks tired from his lectures. Although I saw him about two hours ago, I couldn't be happier to see him now. I tug his face towards mine and rest my lips on his, sighing finally relaxing. I feel him smile against my lips and remember that I was talking to someone before I was interrupted. I pull back and turn back around with Nate's arms still around me.

"Ally, I'm sorry about that." I laugh and feel my cheeks heating up. "This is my boyfriend Nate. Nate this is Ally." She laughs and shakes her head at us.

"You guys are too damn cute." She says shaking Nate's hand. I look back at Nate and grin.

"Hey baby" He smiles and takes my hand as we walk away from the lecture building and towards the bleacher stands where Nate's friends are.
