I awoke to the sound of pigeons outside my bedroom window.Reaching over to grab my glasses I noticed a few small purple bruises along my arms. Yesterday's events flashed back into my mind making me shiver. Noticing my phone flashing, I picked it up to find a message from Cody.

"Hey Alice. I was thinking, if you feel comfortable, we can go and talk to the police today."

Feeling a bit anxious I replied to him telling him I'd meet him around 3:00PM. It was only 9:00AM but I wanted to go back to bed.

Everything flew by quickly. Cody held my hand the whole time I talked to the police. Just speaking of what had happened made me nauseous and shaky. By the time we were done with them a terrible feeling had creeped over me.

I walked into the eerily empty basement suite feeling anger bubbling inside of me.

"If only you had been here James, none of this would've happened." I spat out directing it at my phone laying on the counter as if it was him.

A feeling of loneliness washed over me and I felt lost. I walked over to the alcohol cabinet and pulled out two bottles of companionship. One of captain Morgan's spiced rum and the other raspberry flavored vodka. My hollow stomach ached for food. Instead I undid the cap of the rum and downed a large shot, shivering slightly as the liquid burned like fire through my body.

Suddenly my subconscious popped up, awoken from the alcohol.

"Cody cares about you. He listens to you. Remember how lovingly he held you in his arms? Unlike that James who doesn't even care to call and see if you're still alive." The voices taunted me.

I felt a sudden confinement in the clothes I was in. Taking another gulp of the amber liquid I stripped off my tight jeans and thick hoodie. Pulling on just a T-shirt, I let out a sigh. The looseness and my free legs made me feel invigorated. Putting on a pair of slippers, grabbing the alcohol and my purse, I headed out of the house.

"Oh!" I voiced aloud in shock that outside it had already fallen dark with night.

Driving up to a pizza place, I got two pepperoni pizzas. Subconsciously I drove myself to Cody's. With no idea why I was doing what I was, I found my feet taking me to his door, alcohol in one hand and pizzas in the other. Knocking on the door I realized that I was still in only a shirt and slippers.

"Hey Alice! What are you doing here?" Cody questioned opening the door and looking at me surprised.

"Uhm you know, I'm not even sure. I have pizzas.. and.. well.. want to get drunk with me?" I slurred, falling over my words, unsure of what I was trying to say.

"Uh sure, come in!"

I set the pizzas down on the coffee table and handed the bottle of rum to Cody, sitting down closely beside him on the couch.

"Okay Alice, what's really wrong?" He asked, looking at me with a don't-sell-me-any-shit attitude.

My nails found their way between my teeth and I debated telling him everything, unsure of what the right thing was to do.
"Well.." I began. Soon though my words started to flow without my permission and within minutes I had spilled my whole story, leaving out the minor details. However, I hadn't noticed that through all this I had downed a considerable amount of vodka and was starting to feel a buzz.

"Damn Alice, I'm so sorry! What a fucking idiot, why would anyone cheat on someone as amazing as you?" Cody replied, his voice slightly raising with anger.

"I just want to forget about it for tonight." I sighed grabbing a piece of pizza.

The cheesy, meaty, goodness felt like heaven in my mouth. I let out a moan of satisfaction at finally fulfilling my hunger. Quickly, I gobbled down three more pieces after the first, helping it down with lots of rum. Cody and I kept switching back and forth between the two bottles.
