     "Yuvati come in!"
     "No!"
The disappointed sighs of her friends did not stir her decision one bit.
     "Why not?"
"I have no intentions of becoming soaked!"
"It's just water, and besides there's a rock right there." Darshit pointed to the shallow shore nearby, which had a very convenient rock that would have been perfect for sunbathing.
"Please? The worst that will happen to you is that your cloaca will get wet."
     Yuvati grunted loudly. "Fine!"
"That a' girl! For being an active participant in socializing, I'll buy us some vada afterwards."
     "Oh screw you."
Ambar cackled. "Someone's a bit sour, aren't they?"
Yuvati chose to ignore her friend, and instead slithered toward the awaiting rock. She hissed aloud when the cold water graced her green scales, heaving herself upwards onto the rock.
She collapsed on the warm rock, deep brown hair sprawled out onto the surface.
She grinned as she murmured to herself. "This feels amazing." Her tail unconsciously began to sway back and forth like a contented housecat.
     "You comfortable, Vati?"
"Yep!" Her shout back in retort caused her two other friends to snicker.
"You could get a sunburn." Darshit's sentence contained false concern.
"And you could get struck by lighten. I don't see your point."
Hours went by before any of her friends even bothered coming out.
Yuvati, meanwhile, lightly napped on the rock, perfectly unaware that her friends were about to abandon her.
"You think Yuvati will kill us once she wakes up?"
Ambar nodded her head "no," drenched hair slapping against the skin of her shoulders. "Not if she doesn't find us, she won't."
The both of them laughed, leaving their friend in their wake.
"Excuse me, madam! Are you alright?"
"Cider shut up, she's sleeping so she's fine!"
"No one rests against rocks, Iris! Go fetch this woman clean water this moment."
Iris walked off, yelling about how "she should kick his ass this instant" because, "no one talks to their employers like that."
     "Woman! Can you hear me?"
Yuvati's eyes shot open, absolutely furious.
Forgetting where she was, she rolled off the rock and into the frigid water below.
Her head bobbed up right after, even more enraged now.
"What?!" She snapped at the man on the sandy beach, bitter and freezing.
"My apologies for waking you, I saw you in the distance and had thought you were in trouble."
She glared at him intensely. "No, as you can see I'm fine, so you may leave now." Yuvati hissed at him and she didn't even bother to hide the malice that laid in her voice.
"And might I add that you are a very, beautiful woman."
     Good God.
"Thanks I know, you should go now or Ignorance or whatever her name was will worry for you."
His chuckle was infuriating and obnoxious. "You're a very funny woman. Do tell, what is your name?"
"If I tell you will you leave?"
His smirk made him all the more punchable. "I'll think about it."
     "My name is Yuvati."
"How charming! An elegant name for an elegant woman. You may call me, William Cider."
She glanced around and the realization set in that her friends were not in the area.
"Have you seen two people around here? One's tall, the other's short and they're both black. Blue and red scales?"
     "Scales? Have you gone crazy?"
How dare he accuse her of such an accusation!
     "I'm no-"
"Or are you perhaps talking about nagas, fair Yuvati? Those haven't existed in hundreds of years!"
She sped out the water, the man's pupils dilating from the scene before him.
Yuvati was at least 15 feet in length, her fork tongue slithering out of her mouth just like a cobra's.
     "Leave... And never return!"
Cider fell back, scooting away until his adrenaline kicked in and allowed him to sprint far, far away into the safety of the nearby city.
Once he was gone, she allowed herself to relax.
"Stupid humans." Yuvati sighed as she muttered, leaving the beach to find her friends. She really did crave vada.
