"Who's a good girl?!"
"Cease this you-"
This was exactly how Esmeralda Lupe wanted to spend her Saturday. Exactly. Being relentlessly harassed and constantly interrupted by the despicable human known as Robin Moore.
"Aw! Is the little puppy grumpy?" Pouting lips and feigned innocence paired with the "baby voice," made her sneer.
"You insufferable human! I demand you stop this right now, I am no simple lapdog you can treat with disrespect!" Sharp nails grabbed at the bottom of her red dress, very much on the verge of tearing a not-so-little hole in it.
A shame, she thought. And it was so pretty too.
"Wolfman, tell me about your family life."
A pulverizing glare was sent his way, but which was skillfully dodged in return. "Family life, human? As in?.."
"Family. Just tell me about your family."
"What purpose will that that serve?"
"Nothing, I just want to learn more about you."
"If you insist, human. My mother was a witch and my father was a human. I was often used as an experiment to my mother's ailments and other potions, one in particular causing me to permanently be in this form." Esmeralda gestured to herself. "My mother was held accountable for child endangerment and witchcraft, and she was burned at the stake. Shortly before my father was accused of sheltering a witch, he sent me here and was hanged thereafter."
Robin looked...shocked.
"Wow, I'm sorry Esmeralda, that must've been horrible."
"Spare me your pity, human." Out of generosity, she decided to ask him about his family life also.
"So, human-"
"You can call me Robin, Wolfman."
"So, bird-named human, what is your family like?"
"It was alright. I mean, my family never really had enough money, but we made it through. I also have two other sisters." A sudden small chuckle came from Robin.
"Why do you laugh? Hadn't you just retold your sad and meek childhood?"
"I just remembered who you reminded me of. You remind me of my older sister, Morgan."
"How so?"
"The way you act, she had eyes just like yours, and she even had a red dress just like that." His eyes held a nostalgic gaze, paired with his smile Robin looked as joyful as Esmeralda had ever seen him.
"You seem to remember her fondly, correct?"
"Yeah, she was the best."
Her phone began vibrating and she slowly picked it up. Upon seeing the screen, it was Esmeralda's friend, Keegan.
"Keegan's here to pick me up, bird-named human."
Both stood up and as a final goodbye, Robin hugged the other.
"What is this for?"
"Wow, you've never had a hug before? It's like a... a 'farewell.'"
"A farewell?" Esmeralda's voice trailed off, sheepishly hugging back.
"Bye Wolfman. How about Wednesday we go to McDonald's?"
"Fine." A kiss to her forehead didn't bother her in the slightest as she left for her friend.A/N: I started shipping characters I'll never use again, oh woe is me. Character personality was inspired by Panne in Fire Emblem. I hope you enjoyed! :D
