KATHERINEs POV

The alarm on my phone woke me up. I sighed as I sat up; the sun was hiding behind grey clouds. I got up and was followed down the stairs by Clair.

“Morning Miss Katherine,” Martin said setting a plate in front of me.

“Morning,” I said in my morning voice. I finished eating than returned to my room. I took a shower and picked out my outfit. I started caking on the concealer. The strength to hold up my promise with Harry was weakening. I slide my glasses on, still mad at myself for losing my contacts. I put my hair in a fish tail braid before Amy called me down stairs.

“Yes,” I said once I saw her waiting at the door with my dad.

“We know you weren’t too happy when we told you we had to sell your car,” Amy started.

“We thought it would be nice to get you another car,” My dad said dangling keys in front of my face.

“Really?” I said looking at both of them shocked. They nodded and my dad handed me the keys.

“Thank you,” I kept repeating as they followed me out the front door. A black fiat was waiting for me. I couldn’t help but smile when I started the engine. I waved to Amy and Clive before pulling out of the drive way.

I took a deep breath as I turned in to the parking lot of my new school. I pulled in to a parking spot, once I turned off the car I reached in the back seat for my bag.

“Wow Trish. Your dad actually bought. Oh sorry,” a random guy said once he realized I wasn’t who he thought I was.

“It’s ok,” I smiled getting out of my car.

“You might want to move your car,” the guy said smiling at me.

“Why?” I asked putting my binder on the roof of my car.

“You’re new here so you don’t know you’re in someone else parking spot,” he explained I stuffed my books back in to my bag.

“Couldn’t they find a different spot?” I asked as I closed the door and locked it.

“I don’t know. She has her own way of doing things around here. She doesn’t like it when people screw it all up,” the boy said as I walked away. I felt overwhelmed as I walked through the crowded halls. I walked straight to the principal’s office, and waited for the secretary to become available.

Once I got my schedule and locker number I left the office. I walked up the stairs and found my locker. As I put my books on the shelf provided I could see a path form in the middle of the hall. I tried to look past everyone to see what could have been so important to move for. It was like a scene from out of a movie, the hall was always cleared for the most popular girl in school. She had big brown eyes and long brown hair. As she walked past the halls resumed to their crowded self. I turned and finished putting my things in my new locker. An unexpected push from behind startled me. I ran in to my locker and dropped the book I had in hand. I sighed and bent down to pick it up.

“Watch where you’re walking,” I heard a girl say above me. I closed my eyes, great I had already pissed someone off and I didn’t even make it to my home room. I slowly stood up straight and opened my eyes. “Are you okay?” she asked dusting me off, I looked at her confused. “These morons are just mad we’re stuck here,” she smiled. “So what’s your name?”

“Katherine,”

“I’m Ava,” she said leaning on the locker next to mine. “This your first day?” I nodded closing my locker. I started reading my schedule off the piece of paper the office gave me.

“Which way is room 211?” I asked.

“Can I see?” Ava asked taking the paper from me. She scanned the time table and a grin spread across her face. “We have the same classes,” the bell went off. “Don’t worry that’s the five minute,” we went to class and sat down. “Where are you from?” Ave turned form the seat in front of me.

“Los Angeles,”

“I’ve always wanted to go there,” I couldn’t help but get distracted by the students that made their way to class. My eyes caught on the guy who talked to me out in the parking lot. I was lost in my thoughts, and before I knew it he was standing right in front of me.

“Is this going to become a regular thing?” he smirked.

“Kyle, can she please sit here?” Ava leaned over my desk.

“I guess I can find another spot,” he smiled and sat down in the desk next to me.

“I’m Katherine,” I smiled turning to him.

“Kyle,” is all he said before a girl sat down in front of him and put her arms over his desk.

“Where were you last night?” she asked him.

“Trish I was busy,” he said leaning towards her.

“You’ve been busy a lot lately,” she snapped.

“They’ve been dating for a while,” Ava whispered to me.

“aww,” I said trying to sound nice. Ava faked gaged.

“She’s the biggest bitch in the school,” I giggled as Ava turned back around, facing the front of the classroom.

“What is she laughing at?” I overheard Trish say to Kyle.

“That’s the new girl, Katherine,” he smiled as I turned to face them.

“Hi,” I said kindly.

“Hi,” Trish said before rudely turning around.

“Sorry,” Kyle mouthed to me. The bell rang and our teacher walked in and set his books on his desk.

“Before we get started I need to give Katherine her books,” the teacher said reading off a post it. “And by chance where is Katherine?” I raised my hand.

“Here,” I said quietly.

“Here you are,” the teacher said handing me my history text book.

As the bell rang for lunch everyone got up and went to their lockers. I could see Ava a few lockers away, putting her books away. I grabbed some money and waited until she was ready to get some lunch. We waited in line as the lunch lad served the students in front of us.  I couldn’t help but feel watched as we received our food. I looked around as Ava lead me to her usually table and saw Kyle staring back at me. I could see Trish’s jaw moving up and down and a brunette guy sitting on the other side of Kyle.

“You’ve been getting a lot of attention today,” Ava teased.

“What are you talking about?” I asked.

“Kyle. He hasn’t stopped staring at you. Even in math I caught him a few times,” Ava smiled taking a drink out of her water bottle.

“He probably wasn’t,” I shrugged off digging in to the macaroni on my plate.

“You wouldn’t go out with him?” she asked. I shook my head looking up at him again. I could tell he was trapped, board, and tired of listening to Trish’s crap. “I’m surprised,”

“Why?”

“Most girls around here would kill for him,”

“Would you?” I asked, she shook her head. “See not every girl,”

“We’re not like most girls,”
