My heart was racing as I lined my eyes with eye liner. Why was I so nervous? Kyle and I have been hanging out more lately. Well a lot. Not alone though, Ava and Jack would hang out with us. Kyle is the only one that knows about my family. He kept his word and didn’t tell anyone. A few days ago Kyle asked if I would go to the winter formal with him. I said yes and that is what I’m doing right now. I am getting ready for the dance.
I don’t know why I’m so nervous. Maybe it’s because I’m all dolled up. When I told Amy I was going to the dance she freaked, in excitement. We went dress shopping; shoe shopping and she even offered to do my makeup. It was a bit over whelming so I respectfully declined. I heard the door bell and stood up from the floor. I straightened out the tool of my dress before grabbing the gold heels Amy insisted I wear.
I looked in the mirror one last time. I didn’t recognize myself. Makeup covering my face, fake nails on top of my real ones. Hair curled and pined back so it’s out of my face. I looked down to my wrist, the scars weren’t visible. I’ve kept my promise with Harry and have kept myself clean since then. As I walked down the stairs I could hear a bunch of voices, British voices. My jaw dropped when I saw him standing there talking to Martin.
“Harry,” I said just above a whisper. His head turned to see me. His eyes went wide, his jaw dropped as he walked closer to me. I looked behind him and saw Liam and Louis here as well.
“Katherine. You. You look beautiful,” Harry stumbled to find his words.
‘Thank you. What are you guys doing here?” I asked feeling everyone’s eyes on me.
“We were invited for dinner,” Louis said.
“Niall and Zayn should be here soon,” Liam added. My lips parted, I was just about to say something but my father walked in to the foyer.
“Liam! Louis! Harry! So nice to see you,” he smiled shaking their hands. He turned to me and smiled. “You look lovely sweetie,” I thanked him and said my goodbyes before he led Liam and Lou in to the living room.
“You’re not staying?” Harry whispered.
“No. I’m going to a school dance,” I whispered back. I could see how disappointed he was that I wasn’t staying. I opened my mouth once more but a knock interrupted my thoughts. I opened the door and there he was. he stepped inside, shaking the snow off his jacket.
“Hey,” Kyle smiled to Harry.
“Hi,” Harry replied rudely.
“You ready to go?” Kyle asked.
“Just let me get my coat,” I said. I turned and Martin handed it to me. I thanked him and smiled.
“Don’t I know you from somewhere?” Harry blurted out. I stared buckling my shoes on.
“Yeah. I went to your concert a few weeks ago,” Kyle smiled helping me put on my jacket.
“Right,” Harry said as he remembered.
“We better get going,” I said grabbing the door handle.
“Wait here. I’ll go warm up the car,” Kyle smiled not letting me leave. I turned and Harry’s eyes were on me.
“I missed you,” he said quietly. I looked at the ground before speaking.
“I missed you too,” before I knew it Harry’s lips were on mine. My finger glided through his curls, I have missed him. His hands cupped my cheeks. I caught myself and pulled away. Harry looked at me surprised and confused. All of the questions that were floating around in his head were answered by Kyle opening the door.
“It was nice seeing you again,” Kyle said putting his hand out for Harry to shake. Harry shook his hand, but stared at me. He looked hurt, but what was I supposed to do? Shouldn’t he be happy that I have friends? I smiled as we walked out in to the cold weather. Kyle opened the door for me.
The gym was decorated so nice, and the music was playing some good music. Kyle and I met up with Jack and Ava, we took a seat at a table close to the dance floor.
“We’ll go get you two some punch,” Kyle said as Jack followed him to the beverages.
“It seems to be going well between you two,” Ava smiled and nudged me with her elbow. I smiled and rolled my eyes. Ava and Jack have been hanging out more as well, but it’s nothing serious. Jack and Kyle returned to the table carrying punch. Kyle smiled as he sat down next to me.
“want to dance?” Kyle asked. I nodded and followed him on to the dance floor. We danced to the beat of the fast paced music. I could feel Trish’s eyes on us as we laughed and enjoyed ourslefs. A slow song came on, I didn’t exactly know what do. Kyle put his hands on my hips, and brought me closer. I smiled as we swayed back and forth.
