~~~November (29) ~~~
“I think you take a left up here,” Amy instructed my dad. I looked out of the window of the escalade, seeing the neighbourhood of London. I slide my beats onto my head and over my ears. My jaw dropped as a mansion appeared outside the window. My dad parked the car in front of the grand staircase. Lilly and Lizzy jumped out of the car and raced inside.
I got out of the car looking at every inch of the stone building I was now supposed to call home. I walked inside; it seemed too posh to be a house for 5. I walked around the main level, seeing furniture that looked like it was never to be touched. I walked up the stairs and couldn’t help but notice there were less stairs back in LA. I looked in to the first room and saw Lilly looking out the window. I didn’t want to ask if she had made her decision yet, so I kept quiet and continued my tour. I walked in to a well lit room and checked everything out. The closet and bathroom were a good size, and it wasn’t too close to anyone else’s room. Once I had made my final decision I walked back down stairs. My dad gestured for me to take my head phones off. I did as he showed.
“You like it?” he asked.
“Yeah,” I said looking around.
“Pick out your room?” I nodded. The doorbell went off, Dad walked out of the room.
“Just put the boxes here,” my dad instructed the movers.
I watched as they piled box after box. I wandered around some more. I went to the back patio. There was a nice big seating area, and a pool. I couldn’t wait for summer. Than school came in to mind. By Monday I am going to be known as the loner girl. No one will want to talk to me; I will sit alone in the cafeteria and eat my lunch. I hoped there wouldn’t be any girls like Grace. But it’s high school, there will always be bitches. I sighed and went back inside.
“Dinner’s ready!” Amy shouted up the stairway. I hung the last article of clothing that was left in my suit case and took a break from unpacking. I walked down stairs, and met up with everyone in the kitchen. Amy handed everyone a Chinese carton.
“Sorry guys. We won’t have take out for too long. Martin’s flying up tomorrow,” my dad explained.
We all sat around the dining table, quietly ingesting our food.
“Is everyone excited for school?” Amy asked.
“Kind of,” Lilly said.
“Not really,” Lizzy said digging her chop sticks in to the pile of noodles.
“What about you kido. This is a chance to make new friends,” my dad smiled.
“Yeah,” I put on a smile. I didn’t want to be bitter about the move; I didn’t really have a choice so I might as well make the best of it.
“I’m glad to hear it,” my dad said proudly. We ate in silence.
