I spent the morning of my last free day to visit that school. I drove there and was shocked, it was even worse than I had expected. The halls were crowded with people, though the chaos was so perfect, like a movie. I could spot the loving couple that was always making out on the left side of the hall, and a couple of feet further down, the cliquey girls. Opposite them, the cliquey jocks, and between them, the parade of band geeks with their huge instrument cases. Overall everyone seemed to have a nice time, but the corridor, the locks, the classroms; they all were old, broken and moldy.

Now I'm waiting for the traffic light to turn green. Traffic today is so heavy, cars everywhere and people driving like kids. Really seriously I shouldn't be driving, but I have nothing else to do.

My phone buzz. While waiting for the trafficlight I pick it up from my handbag that is safely placed on the passengers seat. I've revived a text message from Matt.

Need to go to a meeting, will be home before dinner.
Matt

Well, he said the same yesterday and he came home very late. I'm not sure how I feel about trusting him tonight, though he has to prove that he can stick to his promises.

The traffic light has turned green and I'm now texting and driving at the same tame, not to mention that I'm eight months pregnant. Lucky me I'm so extremely badass.

Promise?

I wait for him to text back, maybe a thumbs up or a yes. It actually doesn't matter how me answer as long as he does answer that he will promise.

I promise. Love you❤️

A promise is a promise. But even I can admit that is isn't what a person tells to that matters. It's how they treat you and reveal their true feelings. It's not about the promises they make but the promises they keep.

I don't care how many times he gives me promises, I care how many times he actually do what he promise. Matt will stick to his promise,  it's a feeling from deep inside me, I know him very well.

Dinner is normally served at 6 pm in our house. I watch the minutehand slowly go from the top, around and back to the top again. I sigh, Matt isn't here yet and if he's late I'm not sure what to do.

It's five seconds past 6 and Matt comes rushing into the hallway, he looks very stressed and he know he didn't keep his promise.

I pick up my phone and press two, quick command to Chief Boden.

"What are you doing?" Matt asks and wipe his hand over his forehead to get rid of the sweat.

"I'm calling Chief" I reply and listen to the silence.

"Why?" He ask and walk to me, now he stands in front of me.

Maybe I went to far, I think I should talk to Matt before calling Boden. Matt is after all doing an important job. I hang up before Boden answers.

"Because we can't live like this, you can't live like this" I say

Matt look at me, he's confused.

"You're always working, staying awake at night and you can't even make it home to dinner" I take a breath "Matt, you keep punishing yourself for what happened to that baby, but you did nothing wrong" I continue.

Matt sit down on the edge of the couch, a tear leaves his eye and run down over his cheek. He lean his head in his hands and totally breaks apart. I was right.
