Oh, shit, shit, shit. Meteor heading right for Earth. "Meteor redirected to these coordinates." Mr Smith told us. "Strong possibility of germ pathogens."
"We've got to neutralise it." Sarah Jane told us quickly. "Rani, biocoolant. Clyde, thermoclamps. Calliope, car keys. Go, go, go!"
Which obviously meant that I got to drive, and I burnt rubber on the way there, skidding to a halt in the adorable little Nissan Fiago that I loved to pieced. There was a lot of scorched Earth, small fires all around the impact crater as we got closer. "If it splits opens, the germs will escape. We've got to be quick." I called, leading the way as Sarah Jane scanned with the watch.
She gave me a small nod. "Just in time. Rani?"
"On it." The girl called, walking forward with the fire extinguisher, just before a massive flash that made me cover my eyes. I knew that, I knew what that was...
"Whoa." Clyde cried. "What was that?"
I looked to Sarah Jane who was staring at it incredulously. "It's reading all clear."
"I didn't do anything." Rani pointed out.
Just before an irritating beeping noise started, and someone appears on the crater holding a small fire extinguisher. "There's something there. What are you doing here?" I asked her, seeing something not right, knowing something wasn't good here, but I couldn't place it.
The woman gave us a smile. "Saving the world. All in a day's work. Goodbye." OK, she was as arrogant as dad.
"No, wait." Sarah called. "Who are you?"
The stranger, who also middle aged, was wearing tight clothing and had shoulder length brown hair, zoomed off in a red convertible. Flashy, but not cute like the Fiago. "She's exactly like you. Except more glamourous like Callie."
We headed back towards our car, and my mother in law took the keys back. "She's bad news, whoever she is. Last thing we need is amateurs under our feet. Look what happened in that episode of Supernatural." It was official, I got Sarah Jane too addicted to that programme.
"Well, she looked pretty professional to me." Clyde pointed out.
Rani nodded in agreement as I got into the passengers seat. "Well, she must've detected the meteor, so she's got alien tech. Plus she knew what she was doing."
I didn't like this, everything felt wrong, like her colours were too... perfect? "Yeah, well, I'll get Mister Smith on the case. We'll find her."
Just as we pulled up to the house, Clyde and Rani both stared out of the window of the car at something that Sarah and I both missed. "Wait, wait, wait. What did I just see?"
"We've found her."
We looked at each other and then at the other two once they were out the car. "What?"
Rani pointed down the road. "There was a big furniture van out there the other day."
"Wonder Woman's moved in down the road." Then the car started to roll down the hill. "Oh, you left the hand brake off." Then Clyde quickly stopped it smashing into my buddleia.
"Must be getting old." She sighed.
I stared at her. "Sarah Jane, you're 5 years older than me, you're not that old!
"So, what now?"
Surely that was obviously. "Well, we find out exactly what's going on here." I lead the way over to her house, and walked right in, the place still stacked with unopened boxes. "We need to talk."
