The 12th Doctor:

Oh, River, River...

"Is River Song the consort of the Time Lord known as the Doctor? As well as the mother of his child, the Girl of Colours?"

"Huh? I think so, yeah. Here, can I stay up for a bit? It's really very whiffy down there." Only Nardole's head was lowered, and he made noises of complaint from below. "Oh! Oh, it's awful!"

Flemming looked at my wife, who had no idea who I was. I'd missed her, missed her so much. "So, where is the Doctor now?"

River shook her head. "I haven't the faintest idea."

"Is that credible?"

"It's true."

The blue insect shook his head. "You're the woman he loves, he had a daughter with you."

"I may have given him Jacie, but no, I'm not." Oh you were, you really were.

He looked desperately at the cyborg as I stared at her. I wished I could tell her, tell her without my hearts breaking. "She's lying."

Her eyes were wide as she believed she was saying the truth. "The Doctor does not and has never loved me, though he loves our daughter as she's the stars herself, which she is. I'm not lying."

The Cyborg scanned her, a red light dancing across her form. "Confirmed. The life form is not lying."

"Impossible." Flemming gasped. "This is a trick."

"No, it isn't."

"My information is correct." He told her firmly. "You are the woman who loves the Doctor."

River Song nodded now, like it was the simplest thing in the world. "Yes, I am. I've never denied it. But whoever said he loved me back? He's the Doctor. He doesn't go around falling in love with people. And if you think he's anything that small or that ordinary, then you haven't the first idea of what you're dealing with, especially if he's still with our daughter." Callie was with Sky, Clara and Skar, actually, Lyric, Noah and Luke were getting a picnic together.

Flemming bowed at the cyborg as I wished that I could tell her. "Your Majesty, I assure you, she is the perfect bait. When this woman is in danger, the Doctor will always come, and if not the Doctor, then the Girl of Colours, the song and the lights of the universe."

"Oh, you are a moron. No, he won't, and he would never let her risk her life for me, not after splitting her regenerations with her husband."

"He's probably already here." Oh yes. Right next to you, ready to punch you in the face.

She shook her head again, soft blonde curls pinned up beautifully around her face. "No, he isn't. Of course he isn't!"

"Possibly on this ship."

Now River was getting hysterical, wishing her Mad Man with A Box would drop out of the sky like I had for her parents, whisking her away. Any time and anywhere, but not all the time, that's what she had said. "Well, go on, scan it then. Go on, why don't you?"

Uho. "River"

"Two hearts, stupid clothes, you can't miss him."

Come on, listen to me, woman. "River."

"Go on, scan the whole parsec! He's not here, and neither is my Jacelyn. God knows where he is right now, but I promise you, he's doing whatever the hell he wants, showing her and her family the stars and they're not giving a damn about me! And I'm just fine with that, as long as she is safe."

"River" I tried again, hoping that she'd get the point.

Not that she would, my wife loved the sound of her own voice. "When you love the Doctor, it's like loving the stars themselves. You don't expect a sunset to admire you back, not like it does for Calliope-Jace. And if I happen to find myself in danger, let me tell you, the Doctor and Jacelyn are not stupid enough, or sentimental enough, and he is certainly not in love, or she love me enough to find theimselves standing in it with me!"
