I loved Brian.
Luke and I were over at the Ponds, as we both had a day off, and Luke had Lyrica on his lap, 3 now and really starting to teeth and run around causing havoc, so she was sucking on an ice lolly, while we watched Brian Williams doing something with the light fitting. "I think it's the fitting."
"Dad, it's not the fitting. It just needs a new bulb."
Rory's father, my great grandfather, looked down at him while Luke and I smirked. He liked his new body, said it was weird actually needing to shave, but he kept stubble because of how lovely it felt. "You're wobbling the ladder."
"I'm not."
"I don't want another loft incident." I want to know what happened to the loft now.
Amy grinned up at him. "How's my side, Brian?"
He smiled at her. "Perfect, as ever, Amy."
"Thank you, Brian."
"I don't know what he said to you to make you marry him, but he's a lucky man. Kind of like how you managed to get SongBird, Luke, she's a keeper."
And then the TARDIS started to materialise around us, paper blowing around. Oh, dad, not now... " Not here, not now." Rory muttered.
"You leave the back door open?"
Luke groaned, picking Lyric up properly as we both got to our feet. "What is he doing? It's your dad, Cal."
My fellow ginger shook her head. "I'm going to kill him."
Then the TARDIS was there properly, and dad was grinning at us all. "Hello! You weren't busy, were you? Well, even if you were, it wasn't as interesting as this probably is. Didn't want you to miss it. Now, just a quick hop." And he did all of this while Brian was still on the stepladder. "Everybody grab a torch."
And then Brian dropped the light bulb.
We followed him out, with little other choice, Luke giving me our daughter as he turned on a torch, showing dust and cobwebs. It was all open plan, so noise would echo beautifully, the acoustics were great in general here. "Spiders. Don't normally get spiders in space."
"What the?" Brian asked, the last one out of the TARDIS. Oh, this was going to be hard to explain.
"Don't move!" Dad shouted at him, moving closer, looking angry. "Do you really think I'm that stupid I wouldn't notice? How did you get aboard, eh? Transmat? Who sent you?"
Rory sighed exasperatedly. "Doctor. That's my dad."
"Well frankly, that's outrageous."
Luke and I blinked. "What?"
"You think you can just bring your dad along without asking? I'm not a taxi service, you know."
I rolled my eyes, handing him Lyric to shut him up. "You materialised around us, dad. You know what I said, Lyric stays out of all of this until she's 6! She's barely half that age, dad!"
He was just happy to be holding his granddaughter, and shook his hand instead. "Oh. Well, that's fine, then. My mistake. Hello, Brian. How are you? Nice to meet you. Welcome, welcome. This is the gang. I've got a gang. Yes. Come on then, everyone."
Amy looked at Rory and I. "Tell him something, quick."
"Yes, thank you!"
"I'm not entirely sure what's going on." His dad told him and I remembered that he reminded me of Mr Weasly.
"You know when Amy and I first got married and we went travelling-"
He nodded. "To Thailand."
"More the entirety of space and time. In that police box. Owned by my father, Brian. Oh, and I'm half alien, so is Luke, and therefore our baby Lyric. Sky is also fully alien, a Flesh based electrical one who is really only about 5." Then the space around us started to shake before I looked at dad, making faces at his granddaughter. "All right, where are we? What is that noise and hello, ten months?"
