The next morning, I went with Sky into the attic, and found her putting Clyde's things into a bin linger. "What are you doing?"

"Having a clear-out. There's too much clutter in this attic."

Sky looked horrified. "But those are Clyde's things."

"Yeah, well, he should've taken them with him." You didn't give him a chance! "Too late now."

I shook my head, holding Sky away from her. "I don't understand. What did he do to upset you so much?"

Sarah shivered a little. "Listen to me, Calliope, Sky, and remember. I don't want to hear his name again, and I don't want either of you to have anything to do with him. Is that clear?"

"Yeah." We agreed, though I had my fingers crossed behind my back.

This seemed to be good enough for her though. "Good."

"Come on, my Diamond Sky. Time for school." I told her, taking her hand and walking with her back out of the attic, my guitar on my back. I walked with her to the gates again, before stopping. "Same thing again together, poppet. OK? Anything happens, and you call me, and you run right for my bedroom and call the Doctor. He'll look after you."

"Why can't you look after me?" Sky asked in confusion.

Oh, my Diamond Sky... "It's a just in case. You shouldn't need to, but it'll just be until I fix whatever's happened to Clydey. I need to make sure he's OK. Promise to do what I said?"

She nodded, holding out her little finger. "Pinky promise." Perfect, Clyde must have taught her that before all this happened. I wrapped my finger around her and we pulled, before she headed into school, and started running before Haresh saw me, and stopped when I was out of sight. And then I listened to the city.

With enough focus, I could hear the colours everywhere, every shade, every tone and every frequency, and use this to find someone, similar to how a bat worked, or how Prof X found other mutants with Cerebro. And I found Clyde under a bridge nearby, and went towards him.

"Trousers on, party people, I'm here." I called, coming down there to see Clyde with another girl, the one we gave money to. "Well, it was a good thing I brought extra. Bacon rolls and tea. Sorry, I couldn't get too much sugar."

The girl and him grabbed it, and sipped my own bottle of water, remembering what it was like on the streets. "Thanks, Cal." He muttered between mouthfuls.

"No worries. Right, I'm Calliope, Callie for short. You are?"

She looked hesitant. "Why do you wanna know? You look like a social worker."

THat made me laugh. "Love, if I was social, I'd have known where you were in about 3 weeks after hell froze over. Trust me, social spent a long time looking for me, and they still haven't got me."

Clyde finished the bacon roll before wiping his mouth with the tissue and slurped some of the hot tea. "Callie's fine, she one of my best mates. Cal, you got any more money?"

"No, I only had some cash that I spent getting here and getting you food. Sarah Jane took my card off me after I helped you yesterday." I sighed, brushing my long hair off my face. "I can't get anyone to listen to me, I've had to leave Sky on her own with Rani just to try and help you with this."

"It's fine, you've already done a lot." The girl nodded. "I'm Ellie. Good to know that we can get off the streets though, you're one of the success stories."

I just shrugged. "It was only by accident. I was 11 when I ran, got taken in by my biological dad when he found me at the age of 14. Moved in 3 years ago with my boyfriend when my dad couldn't cope. Still see him though, and he's getting better."
