Chapter Fifteen

The Light

Jesses POV-

I've spilled so many personal things to them... Not like I could do anything anyways.

"Jesse, you okay?" Cameron asked.

"Huh, oh yea... I'm fine." I sat there and just stared at the floor.

"Look, I know we make it hard for you here but you need to be changed a bit for us to be able to take you on contracts." He explained.

"I don't want to kill anyone." I mumbled

"You need to learn how to and accept it. Come with me." He stood up and walked out of the my empty room. I got up and sighed following him rubbing my aching face.

"You know... You've been here for a full year..."

My eyes widened and I took a step back. "What!? Dude that's not a funny joke at all!"

"Jesse... I'm not joking." He said seriously.

I looked around and just sat where I was cradling my head in between my knees. "I haven't been out of this damned solitary underground confinement for one whole year!" My anger slowly rising with my voice.

"Yes, Jesse..." He sighed coming a bit closer to me.

"Get away!" I yelled standing to my feet. "Don't you dare!" I scolded him walking off into my room laying on my soft bed.

Cameron stepped into my room. "Let me explain," he said softly. "Just listen,"

I rolled over on my side on the bed turning my back to him. I heard his footsteps come closer and he sat beside me. "I understand this is hard for you," I heard a weird clicking type sound. "But I need to show you something," a clink that sounded almost like glass. "That you can't necessarily see." He stood up and I quickly turned around. He forcefully mounted me and I flung my arms toward the side of the bed. With one hand he caught my arm and pinned it beside me. With his other arm he held a large syringe with a dark liquid inside. Quickly he lunged his arm down towards me but I caught him by his wrist. He pushed down strongly making the needle come closer and closer to my neck. "Stop... Fighting me!" He said breathing heavily.

"Never!" I gasped pushing him off me into the wall. Quickly I threw myself to the floor and crawled towards the door trying to stand.  I looked behind me and Cameron walked agonizingly to the door closing it. I was so close to the exit!

I looked up at him and started breathing hard glancing back at him and the syringe. "Just... Just hold still." He breathed.

"Cameron please! You don't need to do this to show me something!" I pleaded. "I promise I won't run away or give you a hard time!"

"No. You can't see the exit out of here. I have to do this. We can't risk you escaping if you see the exit. I don't trust you..."

My heart shattered. He- he didn't trust me? "C-Cameron. Why are you doing this to me..."

"Do you want to see the light? Do you want me to show you a place where you can be safe and roam around forever?"

"Are you threatening to k-kill me!?" I asked. "You wouldn't really kill me. W-would y-you?"

"Never." He said jumping on top of me rolling me on my back. His hand pressed firmly on the back of my neck making it uncomfortably come in contact with the floor. "Hold still." He said while I was fighting to get him off me.

I felt him stab the side of my neck and slowly inject the dark liquid into my throat. Slowly I stopped moving and my vision got blurry and I found myself getting suddenly very tired. "W-what did you. . ." I twitched my fingers trying to grab the syringe.

"Shhhh" I heard Cameron whisper into my ear "that wasn't so hard now was it?" His hand lightly stroked though my hair as I slowly fell asleep.

Cameron's POV-

I pulled out the needle from his neck and turned him over into my arms. I smiled at his face and pushed the hair away from his eyes. Still his fingers moved and his eyes still slowly glanced around. I watched him as he stopped moving completely and waited till his eyes were closed. His soft breathing was silent as he kept a steady pace.

Smiling I stood up placing my hand under his shoulder and the other in his wrist. Pulling his arm around my neck I bent down and dragged him over my shoulder standing back up with him hanging over me. His arms hung down behind me and his legs dangled. I walked out of his room and made my way down the hall. Quietly I snuck past Joanna's room and walked down two halls. A grate with a hidden door beside it was finally in view. I opened the door and climbed up the stairs into the underground entrance. The entrance was right in front of the lake where Jesse had first met us. I smiled and closed the barred door.

Taking any of the secret tunnels would have taken too long. Instead I've just decided to take my car. After I made my way up to the top of the steep hill I walked around back of my empty house to my car. I unlocked the door and opened it setting jesses limp body inside the passenger seat. Good thing Josef installed unseeable belt buckles into the seats of my car.

"Let's take a trip." I said to myself as I put jesses seat belt on buckling his wrists into the hand crafted belt buckle cuffs.

As I cuffed his hands I made sure the belts were strapped tight on his wrists. His arms rested neatly at the sides of the seat and his legs just laid across the floor of the car. Making sure everything was taunt I got into the drivers seat starting the car. I looked over at him and smiled while pulling out.
