Chapter Seven
Sign Of Likings
Jesses POV-
"Come on Jess. You need to get up! Oh! Wake up! Jesse! Listen to me! Okay? We need to move!" Josef shook me roughly trying to wake me up. Slowly my eyes opened to see his blurry face.
"What? What's going on?" I asked freaking out a bit.
Josef let me sit up. I just looked at him and Sean was standing behind him. "His reaction to an emergency escape is slow. We need to work on that." Sean said looking down at Josef as he stood there with his arms crossed.
"Agreed." Josef had squeezed my shoulder. "Today," he said " today we do some testing. Now that your body is functioning well we get to test you for your abilities and see what you could be."
"I don't want to be anything." I said.
Josef eyes widened at me. He bent down and whispered into my ear "never say that in front of Sean or Pierce. They aren't scared to beat the living shit out of you for saying that."
I nodded.
"Today, both Josef and Cameron will be teaching you the basics of being a thief or killer. This training will occur everyday around this time." Pierce paused " If you were to ever disobey our rules or refuse to do something along with trying to run away, we will hunt you down and penalize you for your mistake. You will obey our rules, you will listen to us, and you will be taught to be one of the very best." Pierce paused again and glanced over at Cameron that just arrived into the room and back at me "do I make myself clear?" He asked a bit rash.
"Yes." I answered.
"What?" He said trying to correct me.
"Yes sir..." I answered uncaringly.
With that said Pierce and Sean left the room. Josef and Cameron both stood there looking at eachother then at me. I didn't care for bossy people.
"Your gonna get yourself killed." Josef said.
I didn't say anything.
"Jesse," Cameron said gently placing a hand on my shoulder "you need to listen-" I whipped my shoulder away from his hand standing up quickly.
"Don't touch me!" I angered.
"Jesse-" Cameron tried to start.
"No! I thought I could trust you! You... You were the only one I thought I could trust..." I whimpered.
"Jesse. It's not like that." Josef said.
"Oh? But it is!" I turned towards Cameron "you let me run into Pierce. You let him straddle me while you suffocated me! Then after that you let him drug me!... What the hell!" I yelled while they stood there "do you know how fucked up that is!? Do you know how scared I am? How much I fucking ache from all these drugs?"
Cameron and Josef stood there staring at me. Josef spoke up "we are trying to protect you from getting yourself killed. We made you pass out so you wouldn't fight or make much noise. We paralyzed you so you couldn't run. We did all this so you wouldn't make Pierce have to kill you. His kills are not quick. They are slow and painful. Try asking the last guy. Guess what. You can't!" He paused " because the guy that is dead right now isn't here. We tried teaching him our ways. He refused. One night he figured out how to escape. Pierce found out and went after him. The boy kept running. Pierce pulled an arrow on him right to his knee. The boy fell in pain and agony. Pierce walked over to him slowly with his cross bow in hand and placed his foot on the end of his Titanium saw toothed arrow slowly twisting and pushing the arrow in his knee more. The boy shouted in pain. Pierce stepped off the arrow as the boy held his bloody knee. As he stepped back he drew another arrow aiming right at the boys hands. The impact of the arrows on both his hands were sick. You could hear the thuds as the boys hands were pinned into the ground. Then Pierce shot two more arrows into both the boys shoulders and simply... Walked away. The boy bled out and slowly died in pure pained rapture." I stood there staring at Josef while Cameron refused to look at me " do you want that to happen to you?" Josef asked me.
"No sir." I said shaking a bit, realization flowing.
"We are making progress already. Come on." Josef commanded.
I followed him and Cameron followed behind me. The two had lead me into a empty stone room. I looked around. Nothing but mossy like walls. Cameron smirked at me and walked over to one of the four walls. A secret button laid in the wall camouflaged by the stone itself. A click and a few turning gears and viola a wall of weapons were revealed. Josef grabbed a thin, round, long wooden stick hand two to Cameron and one for himself. Cameron approached me and handed me the stick. I took the stick and held it firmly at the middle leaving a four inch gap between my hands. I knew this training. I had learned this with my old boyfriend. He taught me how to stick fight. I am really good at it actually. Maybe I can surprise them.
"Good hold." Josef said "Now. I want you to face Cameron. You two will battle. He will not be an easy opponent but he is a very impressive fighter. Our best fighter." Cameron stood in front of me and held his stick like me. Something about his eyes. That deep gaze took hold of me almost throwing me off guard. "Begin." Josef said.
Cameron instantly moved. I blocked making him hit the bottom of my stick. His aim was for my ankles. Typical starting point. Cameron quickly recovered and did a upward slash. I parried his move knocking him off. Quickly I slashed the back of his leg. He winced in pain but quickly hit me in my lower back. Stunned I froze and stood there with my stick held out. Cameron went in for a second move. Again I blocked him and hit his stick. He recovered from being knocked back with a helicopter spin of his stick and he pivoted off swirling his leg making it land right in my gut. I flew back from the force of the kick and hit the stone wall with a thud. My body stuck there for a second and I fell forward onto my knees dropping my stick. I groaned as pain inflicted on my lower abdomen.
"You... Hit me." Cameron said. Josef looked just as surprised as Cameron.
I coughed and caught my breath looking up at Cameron. "Yeah. So?" I said between coughs.
"No one has been able to hit me." He said "lucky shot. I haven't stick fought in a while. Next time your not gonna even touch me." He chuckled.
I smirked and nodded. I was surprised I had hit him too. He definitely is very experienced. The adrenaline moves and power moves are very strong. If he can kick me like that and make me fly back with force that much... I would just hate to get on his bad side.
A friendly hand was extended out to me. I picked up my stick and took his hand. "Thanks." Cameron nodded his head.
"Let's continue with training." Cameron suggested. I nodded my head. Cameron and I retreated to our same starting positions and readied ourselves.
"Begin."
