Chapter Nine
Strengthening
Cameron's POV-
"Okay," I said. "This parkour course will test your durability and maneuverability."
"Alright. I used to do this when I was younger with my old boyfri- friend! Friend..."
I nodded my head. Jesse is gay? "Me too. But this will be much different. First with this we will let you train on here for a bit. After we think you get the hang of it we will time you. After we think you're good with timing we will come after you and try to run you down, grabbing you."
"Like- like pinning me and stuff?" He asked sounding a bit nervous.
"Don't be nervous. We won't kill you. All we will be doing is trying to catch you. Once we catch you, we will be trying to restrain you. We won't be hurting you, we'll just be trying to get you to break free and continue running." I explained.
"Oh okay. I think I can manage." He had said giving me a dirty smirk.
"Hey," I laughed. "don't make me get Joanna." I taunted.
"Oh please! What is he gonna do" we both laughed.
"Phew, that was good. Okay, sorry, anyway. Let's start." I said.
Jesse nodded his head and walked to the start of the course.
"Go!" I yelled.
Jesse ran forward and made the first jump. Successfully he made it and flunked off a metal pole onto a thin wooded board. Quickly he ran across almost losing balance a few times. Then he jumped off tucking and rolling to his feet continuing to run. He came across a very large gap. Jesse stopped and looked around. He noticed the two walls on the sides of the gap and knew what he had to do. After he found out, he backed up and run up the wall. He had successfully made it onto the wall but lost momentum half way and crashed to the ground. I snickered to myself and ran forward jumping catching myself on the metal bar slinging myself into the long wooden board jumping off the high jump, tucking and rolling. I walked to the end of the long gap and grabbed the edge jumping over landing on the ground below. Jesse was standing there brushing himself off.
"Didn't do to bad... Well, maybe." I laughed.
"Haha, very funny," He teased playfully. "Come on. I wanna try it again. I had gotten confused for a second. I knew I couldn't make the jump but I know for sure I would have been caught."
I nodded my head and agreed with him. We both climbed back up to the start of the course and he ran it again. Once he reached the wall he had successfully ran across it. The only problem was that he almost didn't make the jump off. He lost momentum again but had caught onto the ledge and pulled himself up. I smiled and nodded my head. I was impressed. He continued to run until he came up to a high narrow wall. Jesse knew what he had to do and he ran up one wall and jumped off onto the other repeating his jumps till he got to the top of the ledges lip.
He stood there and looked at me with a smirk on his face while he puffed in and out air. I smiled and shook my head. "Now come back." I instructed.
"What." He said stupidly.
"You heard me," I paused. "Come back."
Jesse nodded and looked down over the top of the edge. He looked nervous. I don't think he can make that jump down. "Come on Jesse. You got this!" I encouraged. Jesse nodded once more and gripped the edge and jumped down. He fell of his feet wrong and ended up falling backward. "Come on." I encouraged again. Jesse got up limping a bit and started running. Slowly his running started to get better again. He ran the course again and successfully made it back to me only struggling with the balance.
"Good. You show great potential. You would be a great thief and assassin. But I think a thief is better." I winked at him. He blushed a bit and smiled.
I really thought it was funny that he was gay. He didn't mean to say it but it just slipped out. Almost happened to me a couple times. It's hard to keep a secret like that. I could tell he is awkward now. He refuses to make eye contact with me.
"that's enough training for now." I said casually. Slowly we strode off towards the doors that lead inside the sanctuary. "You know you don't have to be awkward around me..." Slowly I picked at my fingers. "This probably isn't a good idea to tell you this but I am gay too..." I awkwardly spoke.
Jesse stopped dead in his tracks and looked at me with the most terrified face I've ever seen. "Jesse? Jesse, are you okay?" I said starting to sound nervous.
"Run..." His lips mimicked.
I cocked my head at him. I hear the sound of skin tearing. I feel a wet warm liquid run down my stomach. I look down and see a blade coming out of my lower stomach. At first I don't feel the pain but then it hits me like a tidal wave. I gasp from the searing hot pain and feel the blade get pulled out of me. Instantly I fall to my knees and grasp my stomach trying to stop the blood. I fall to the side and Jesse is all I see... Then... Blackness.
"This probably isn't a good idea to tell you this but I'm gay too..." I awkwardly spoke.
Jesse doesn't say anything and we continue to walk down into the sanctuary. He seemed to be more cooperative now. He doesn't seem as awkward. I walked him to his room and he opened the door but stopped. "You know... I like you..." Jesse softly whispered to me... And shut the door.
