Chapter Twenty
Reward
Cameron's POV-
My eyes flickered open as I heard the sound of unrecognized footsteps. Quickly I sat up in bed and tip toed as quietly as possible onto the ground. I laid down and rolled under my high bed as the sheets covered the bottom. My hands scrambled across the floor as I looked for my black box containing my emergency gun. I glanced back and forth as I whacked the box with my hand. I sucked in the pain and just grabbed the box slowly opening it pushing the mag into the gun and pulling the loading pin.
As I did so my bedroom door swung open quietly. Three pairs of feet entered my room. I pushed myself against the floor and wall more as I peaked my gun out the underside of the bed. Slightly aiming the gun at one of the three men's feet, I pushed my arm out more I squinted my eye and slowly pulled the trigger. Suddenly a foot stomped down onto my wrist. I yelled out in pain and quickly bit my lip. The gun dropped from my hand instantly. I winced in pain more and rested my head on the floor biting my lip so hard that I made it bleed.
My wrist was grabbed and I yelped in pain as I was roughly drug out from under the bed. I winced in pain once more as their grip tightened on both my wrists. I closed my eyes and breathed in through my nose and out my mouth as the man pinned both my arms behind me against his stomach as we sat on the ground. I heard a loading pin click and a cold metal circle placed on the center of my forehead. I swallowed hard and kept my eyes closed.
Swiftly I used the guy pinning me as a base and swung both my legs at the mans in front of me. I heard a thunk and pivoted off of the man holding me bashing him into the wall. Slowly I stood up clenching my fists at my side and slowly opened my eyes. I saw the third man standing in front of me with my own gun pointed at my chest. I smirked and swung my uninjured fist at the mans wrist. He winced as the gun hit the wall and I spun around doing a round house kick on him. His back hit the wall and he slid to the floor.
I laughed quietly to myself and bent over picking up my gun. I pushed the tip into the front of my pants and covered it with my shirt as I walked out the room. Jesse stood at the bottom of the steps looking at the ground. I saw tears roll down his cheeks as four other men laid dead and bloody in front of him. His clenched fists dripping with blood at his sides. I rushed down the steps and lightly pushed him away from the scene towards the door. "Jesse, we need to go. Come on."
His legs gave a bit more and he ran with me out the door. Quickly I slammed against my car and opened the door to the drivers seat. Jesse slipped into the passenger seat. Quickly I fumbled through my keys clipped to my pants and started the car. We took off at the speed of light down the road. I hurried as fast as possible to the sanctuary.
"Jesse. There is water back there if you want some." I glanced over at him keeping my eyes on the road.
I really hated to lie to him. Of course that wasn't regular water but he could not see the entrance to the sanctuary. Not yet. He reached into the back seat of the car and grabbed a water and opened it. He gulped all the water and emptied the bottle completely. I smirked as he stared at the water bottle swaying back and forth slightly. "Sorry Jesse." I said. Jesse didn't even look over at me his fingers went limp and he dropped the empty bottle and his arm dropped as he fell into the door passed out.
He should not have drank the water that fast. Of course the effects would happen faster. As long as he was asleep and hopefully that was just enough to make him forget about us just being attacked and me drugging him. Once he wakes up he will be at the sanctuary and completely out of it, which is a very good thing. Turning into the road I drove down the secret passage in the woods and parked next to the entrance.
Opening the door as I pulled the key out of the car I unlocked the entrance to the sanctuary and went back over to Jesse. I opened his door quickly and made him fall into my arms. Dragging him out the car I closed the car door and slouched into the secret door as Jesse lifelessly slid behind me.
Jesses POV-
"Jeeeeeeesseeeeeee" I rolled my head to the side in confusion and groaned a bit. "Jesse..." I heard a more firm voice. My eyes flicked open for a second but shit once more. A strobe like light was grazed over my eyes making me squint. I fluttered my eyes and groaned louder. The light turned off and I saw pitch black but color slowly filled my blind pupils. Pierces and Josef's outline came into view. After a minute or two my eyes finally fully adjusted and I found myself back in my room in the sanctuary.
Groaning a bit I raised my hand to my eyes and slightly rubbed them. White blotches partially blocked my vision but soon went away as I sat up. I gripped my covers with one hand and kept rubbing my eye a bit more with the other. Slowly I turned my head towards Pierce and asked, "what happened?"
His subtle body language gave him a satisfying look. Suddenly all the memory flowed back into me, corrupting my brain and hitting me like a bolt of lightning. I closed my eyes and covered my face with my palms.
"You did well." Pierce said patting my shoulder lightly while getting up. He walked into the door frame of my room and looked back at me with just turning his head. "Welcome to the silver bloods." He said before exiting.
I shook my head and laid back still covering my face with my elbows in the air. What have I gotten myself into!?
