The last chapter was way short, but it was a good place to leave off. I'll try and make up for it by stretching this chapter out a bit also I have real life actors to portray my fictional characters which is sweet.
I was completely stunned. Suddenly everyone was looking at me. I didn't know what to think or say or do. I was at a complete loss for words. I wonder what Andy was thinking since I just stole his spotlight. It didn't take long to find out as he started hugging the shit outta me.
"Yeah nigga! We're both like fucking super heroes now!" Even though my friend was excited I was still too shocked to speak. This was one of those things that would change my life for ever.
"What?" It was all I could muster out.
Professor Xavier noticed how much of a shock I was in.
"Now listen son, I could be mistaken but I don't believe I've ever had such a strong feeling about someone being a mutant. Have you felt different lately? In any way at all?"
I started thinking, but nothing came to mind.
"Well Sir, I don't believe so"
"It is possible that the X-gene is only just becoming active in you. If you would like you can come back to our facility tomorrow with your friend for the week. We can make sure if you are in fact a mutant while your friend decides if he wants to join my academy for gifted youngsters."
"Man, you're moving?"
"I don't know, this is something major and I want to know how to use my powers and if word gets out about this more people at school will try and crash our style."
"I guess. Um, Professor I think I'm interested in going do you mind if I sleep on it?"
"Yes of course, we don't want to force anything on you. You too Andy, this is important and you should only do it if you believe its best for you."
Me and Andy nodded and said our goodbyes. We went up stairs to sleep in the game room since the other rooms would be occupied by our guests of honor.
I found it hard to sleep, this had been the longest Friday in my entire life. Andy being a mutant, me maybe being a mutant, the fight with James, Rebbecca. Wait, what could I tell her? I mean things weren't serious but she was awesome and we had potential. Life is crazy.
I woke up around seven, actually I more or less got up at seven since sleeping had been so hard. I got up to use the bathroom. Andy was still asleep, lucky bastard. I looked in the mirror in the quaint blue bath room. I saw me, the same I've always lucked pretty much. How could I look the same, but be so different.
I shook my head and got into the shower so I could really process everything. If I am a mutant, I have a power. Whatever that power is more than likely it will improve my life. Being a mutant on the other hand could be dangerous. There were tons of people who hated them, people at school, government groups, and that asshole Oscar Riccardi. Then again I was no stranger to being ostracized based on who I am. I'm an individual and sometimes people don't like the way I float my boat. Also Professor Xavier seems like a very great man and seems to genuinely care about me and Andy. That was another thing, Andy, my best friend since I was nine, if I was in fact a mutant would be going through the same things as me. Rebbecca, if she couldn't deal with me being a mutant or mutants in general fuck her. After all my best friend is one.
I got out of the shower and started calling Rebbecca. I was a little worried, but if I could play last night as cool as I did I can pull this off.
"Hey what's up Andrew?"
"Um, yeah hey Rebbecca I've got interesting news."
"Oh... What?"
"Don't worry its nothing too bad... I think" I couldn't think of any way to explain it to her but I needed to tell her.
"What is it?"
"Ok, this is gonna sound crazy. So I'm just gonna come out and say it. I am or actually I might be a mutant and I'm going to be away for a week to find out."
"Um, what? haha"
"Yeah. I'm 100% serious, this isn't like some lame attempt at getting rid of you it's somewhat a long story and very unbelievable, but hypothetically if I was a mutant how would you feel?"
"You mean like that X-gene stuff on the news?"
"Yes mam"
"Hmm, Well since you're cute I'll let it slide"
"Yes Thank you! I'm really glad you're being understanding about this. Listen I gotta go, but I'll stay in touch I promise."
"No problem, I'll talk to you later."
That went so smooth, sometimes life is cool I guess. Time for some breakfast.
I went downstairs and saw that everyone was on the back porch.
"Andrew! Good Morning my friend! I've got some tea ready for you!" that was Earl, Andy's step dad.
"Oh thanks a lot man!" I saw the cup of tea on the island in the cluttered kitchen and took it out on to the porch to congregate with everyone.
"Good Morning everyone."
They all gave their replies as I took seat amongst them at the large table on the porch. I tried to relax and get a grasp of their conversation. To my surprise they were talking about literature and not last night.
"I believe Catcher in the Rye was one of the more important books I've read as far as having an impact on my life." Said Xavier.
I quickly assumed this meant that he tries or has tried to guide young mutants in to the path of the righteous. I found this easily believable by his demeanor. The man acted with extreme kindness and benevolence.
I missed part of the conversation while thinking about this and I guess they had asked me something since they were all looking at me.
"I'm sorry, what?"
"Me and my associates were wondering if you have made a decision yet as to whether you are going to Westchester with your friend for the testing?"
I thought for a second, this was important, but then it seemed there was only one logical choice.
"Yes I am"
