Chapter 17 - I am coming for you

First Mistress 2

Right about then a voice came over the ship intercom, "Captain to the bridge. There is a call for you from the First Mistress." Dan recognized it as the XO and he could also hear the tension in her voice, "Good, let's go and deal with this now." He was still growling and his wolf was wanting out. It wasn't going to happen but both of them were seriously worked up.

Mina turned and calmly walked out of the cabin after indicating for the others to follow. This was somewhat as she had expected though Mina had been hoping to talk to Dan and Kevin before the call. It was sooner than expected by several weeks. Then again, she had sent a message to the communication buoy in a distant system so it was something she had been expecting. This was her race and as much as she loved Kevin she had a responsibility to her race as well.

Dan kept an arm around Oreo even as Tigger was walking next to Nang. He could smell and sense their shock over the mating bond. He had to wonder just who all knew of the orders and what exactly they specified. One thing they were going to learn was not to fuck with his pack or mates. If they did his pack would go down fighting and it would be beyond ugly for the aliens. Dan didn't want that but if they forced his hand it would happen and chances were good the other supernatural would respond as well. He didn't know if their world had anything similar to Were's or other supernatural but it didn't seem like it. Nang and the other neko's had been utterly shocked when they had discovered what he was.

When they reached the bridge, Dan stood next to his mates though his arms were crossed over his chest. As hard as he tried his expression was very sardonic and had traces of an insulting amusement. He was going to resist doing or saying anything stupid but it was going to be damn hard. Next to him were his mates and now Nang was next to him with Tigger and Oreo next to her. He did find it amusing that the three did have their cat collars on even as he had the dog collar on.

When the screen cleared, it was the old woman again and Dan felt the corner of his mouth lift and show some teeth. It was both a threat, a challenge, and a dismissive gesture. The female looked like she was close to stroking out based on the color of her face and a vein throbbing on her temple. Dan almost commented on it but decided not to.

When the woman spoke she most obviously wasn't happy, "What the ***** is going on aboard that ship of yours? I gave orders to your XO which were disobeyed." Her ears were almost flat against her head and her tail was lashing back and forth in anger. Some of the words she was using simply weren't going to translate.

Mina gave her a somewhat concerned look, "First Mistress please calm down. What orders are you talking about?" Even as she was speaking she settled down in the CO's chair and was looking somewhat relaxed.

If it was even possible the female became even more enraged, "To take over and relieve you of command, you insolent child. I gave orders for you to be relieved but that ***** Officer told me she would have to review the instructions and convene a panel of officers to review the orders." It looked like the First Mistress was close to foaming at the mouth as she was screaming at them.

Dan had to raise an eyebrow slightly and his expression became even more sardonic as she was speaking. It was all he could do not to say anything just to annoy the old woman. As of now she was going to be referred to as 'that old woman' just to spite her even if she never heard the term.

Mina crossed her legs and looked quite comfortable in her chair, "I will have to look into it and after reviewing all the records send my recommendations to the Admiralty for possible charges. Now if you don't mind I would like to discuss this with the council of Mistresses."
