Chapter 20 - Oh damn, we are fucked

Mina informs her crew

Mina had used the communicator to contact the crew and let them know. For her it was both easier and harder than it had been for Kevin. She laid out the orders as originally given, the decision on why she changed them, and the results of today. Mina knew that the loss of Dan was going to hit the crew hard since he had done so much for them. He had opened his house, gave them good food, a place to relax, and remember why they were doing this.

When she was done talking Mina started receiving feedback from her entire crew. A few disagreed with the change in orders but agreed to keep doing their jobs. Most of the others were incensed by what the Mistresses ordered as well as the loss of Dan. They yowled out their sympathy for what Tigger had to do as well as anger at what he had been forced to do.

One thing she hadn't expected was to have Buddy show up and request entrance to her office. When he did she accepted the request and opened the doors. When several other males walked in with him Mina was surprised. Tigger was one thing and she knew that the male neko's had been training with Dan's people. To have them show up like this simply wasn't something she had expected or planned on, "What can I do for you Buddy?"

He looked at Mina and his face was torn, "Captain we have been training with Dan as you know. One thing you didn't know was that the celebration was also to show what we have learned. Suzy and several other wolves have been teaching us to fight including swords and knives. Nothing like Tigger", he had to shudder, "but we are not going to allow our mates to go back without us by their sides." He pulled out a long box he had been holding and opened it. Inside was a long slender blade and it was obvious it was a real weapon.

Mina looked shocked when he told her what they had been learning. She knew what Tigger had been doing and it had shown early on. By now he was most definitely a sexy cat and there were a number of jealous females. Oreo and Nang knew it and they didn't have a problem showing him off. The other male cats were looking better though not nearly as much as Tigger. Mina flicked her ears at Buddy and the others, "I see, I would have liked to have seen that. What are you asking of me? You would be going back with us so you would be by your mate's sides."

Buddy glanced at his companions and then back at Mina, "Captain we have talked about this and we are going to stand by our mates and Dan's mates. We are going to stand by them and we are prepared to fight if needed. Dan had prepared person weapons for each of us. He hadn't told us but he forged them himself and had them ready to give to us. Tigger sent them up when he found them earlier. It was something Dan wanted us to have."

As he was talking Buddy lifted the sword from the box and held it hilt forward to Mina. Even as he did that she could see the layers of dark and light metal flowing down the blade. It was plain yet beautiful in its simplicity.

Mina took it and carefully lifted it and was awestruck at the design. It was a narrow blade but had an incredible balance. She could tell it had been a custom design for Buddy. How she knew that she wasn't sure but the blade seemed to flow as she moved it. Mina had a feeling if Buddy actually used it he would find it an extension of his arm, "It is beautiful Buddy. Keep it in the box and in your quarters. I'm going to need to think about this. The same goes for the rest of you. The weapons Dan made for you will be kept in your quarters unless I say otherwise."

As she was talking she noticed all the other cats had boxes of various sizes and shapes. Mina had to wonder how Dan had the time to make the weapons. She didn't really know what his normal day was like since she had to deal with the ship. It was something Mina wished she had been able to ask or see.

Buddy and the others looked very pleased with what Mina had said. They had been expecting to be forced to leave them in the Armory, "Thank you Captain and when the wolves come aboard we wish to keep training with them." All of them were feeling better about themselves and were starting to grow mentally.
