Buddy and Dan about Swords

The next two weeks were quite interesting for everyone concerned. The ladies, Nang in particular, were definitely showing good development of their babies. Everyone was pleased with that and Dan was quite relieved though in Nang's case it looked like she was going to have one of each. With Oreo it looked like she was going to have one pup and two kittens.

The exercises were going well, or as best possible, for the males. For the first week, it was comprised of a great deal of complaining when they got tired and sore. Suzy and Sampson weren't very sympathetic about the complaints. Normally they would smile and remind them that their mates were going to love the shape they were going to be in. Once in a blue moon they would simply growl and tell them to keep running.

Usually that worked and if not then they reminded them of the rooms they were staying in and the quality of food. That usually got a bit of silence and then the cats would start working out again. The exercise routine for the first week was actually fairly light and Dan would occasionally drop in and check on how they were doing.

One day just to be a bit annoying he decided to spar with one of his wolves using swords. He walked over to a locker on the wall and pulled out his training blade. The darn thing almost reached from his chin to the floor and was massive. It was a bastard sword and the blade was close to four inches wide and about four and a half feet long. The hilt was designed for both hands but there was also brass strips on both sides of the blade which started at the quillions and ran down the blade for a bit over a foot.

"Anyone want to watch a lovely sword fight? Gather around", he was pulling on his training armor, "Sampson get your training blade and let's have a bit of fun." He grinned at the cats and the sword was in one hand and resting on his shoulder. Most of the cats were startled since they didn't do any training with swords and the ones they had seen were in a museum.

Buddy looked at the sword and the ease with how Dan held it and frowned. He knew the lycans were stronger but the thing was massive and had to weigh a good deal, "May I see your sword?" He figured something had been done to it to make it lighter.

Dan whipped the sword off his shoulder and flipped it so he was holding it hilt first and handed it over. His expression of mild amusement never changed as he handed it over, "Careful it is heavy and I don't want you hurting yourself."

Buddy took it and was shocked at how heavy it was, "Good Lady how can you even carry this thing?" It took everything he had to lift it so it was pointing upwards. He could only hold it for a short while before Dan had to take it from him.

Dan took the question at face value, "This type of sword has been around for centuries. I admit mine is heavier to an extent but humans used to use them but they were in top shape and even then, it was tiring for them." He turned back and gave Sampson a slight bow that was returned.

Sampson's sword was a broad sword and he smiled, "I'm going to take you down Dan." Both had put on heavy reinforced armor since training with a blunted sword could be dangerous with lycan strength.

Both brought their swords up and the fight was on. Dan had the longer reach but Sampson was faster since his sword was lighter. They spared for about 15 minutes before Dan called a halt to it, "Damn it Sampson you broke my arm I think. Tigger, can you give me a hand." He was growling slightly at the pain as he tried to take the armor off.

Tigger came over and started helping, "Dan you are a pain at times. You need to stop breaking bits and pieces of you. Nang and Oreo are likely to growl at you tonight." Eventually he had all the armor off and set off to one side.
