*Author's note*
Well to All those reading my incredibly short book, I thank you. It makes me sad to say we're almost coming to an end.
BUT!
You're all in luck, because I am writing a sequel shortly after I'm done with this! So thank you for reading in general, and... If you're lucky, I just might combine the books into part one and two.
But it doesn't matter anyway, you guys aren't saying anything, so you must not really like it at all. I might just delete this story for christ sakes....
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Chapter Seventeen
Explanation to Transformation
“Midnight,” said a familiar deep voice.
Chalky yet warm white hands traced patterns on my head, and as I opened my eyes I saw the familiar loving brown eyes of the Reaper staring back at me. Dad smiled lovingly at me as I regained consciousness. Melony stood by his side, smiling shyly at me in return.
I need to have a few words with her.
“Dad,” I started, “what’s the peak of power?”
He smiled and said, “It’s what you’re going through now. Once you consciously accept you are out of the human norm, your body begins to collide with your power. You see, when someone is at the peak of their power, it means their blood is mixing with their powers to recreate what they were intentionally supposed to be. You probably feel very weak after what just happened. In fact, I’m surprised that happened at all. You must be very strong to go through so much pain, Midnight.”
I liked seeing the proud smile on his face – but I still have a few questions.
“Dad,” I began, “what is a bond?”
He seemed dumbfounded at first, but then he mouthed “oh” when it clicked.
“A bond is a connection between two people,” he explained. “For people out of the human norm like us a bond is unbreakable. A bond for us is literally a connection in the soul. For guardians like Melony, the connection is like a protection spell – no matter how mad you are at each other, you’ll both always have an overwhelming urge to protect one another from danger. Another type of bond is a mate. Bound mates are something you simply cannot ignore, because they are the only person in the world you are meant to have your children with.” A longing smile crept onto his face. “Kalina and I were the only people in the world meant to have you. You see, if you don’t meet your mate, you never have your children or you never fall in love. It’s absolutely impossible. No mate, no love – it’s as simple as that.”
Who’s Kalina?
“Kalina,” I said, “is she my mom?”
“Yes,” he said, unmistakable longing within his voice.
“So Melony,” I began, “why haven’t you told me you had a bond with Ezekiel?”
She froze. It took a while for her to answer.
“How did you know that?” she said hesitantly.
“I got that information from my memory-dreams.” I crossed my arms. “You could have said something, Y’know.”
She looked down at her toes. “I know. But what was I supposed to say? Hey, I’m bound to the guy you’ve been loving/hating for basically your entire life?”
