(I'm now referring to Daichi using his first name instead of his last because his last name is hard to spell. I'm calling Suga, Suga instead of Sugawara because I got lazy...)
When Suga walks out of the bathroom, he finds Daichi making stacks of books, some almost half his height. Feeling both surprised and confused, Suga asks "What are you-" and is quickly cut off by Daichi.
"Hold still for a second," Daichi says, all the while holding a book at eye level, and having his gaze bounce back and forth between Suga and the book. With a small sigh, he closes the book and sets it on top of the nearest stack. After a brief moment of silence, Daichi says, "I must look ridiculous with all of these books surrounding me..."
"Actually, you look cold," Suga says, with a small frown, "you got wet and cold too... You should probably take a bath."
That's right... Daichi had ended up letting Suga borrow his jacket, resulting in him getting drenched... "You're right," Daichi says laughing at himself. He got so distracted by Suga that he forgot that he was cold. "But let me take care of your ankle first." Hastily shoving some books aside, Daichi motions for Suga to sit on the couch. Suga does so slowly, and is surprised by how soft and comfortable it is.
"It's even softer than I imagined," Suga exclaims, with a large smile. "This is a couch, right? Or is it just considered a chair?"
"You were right the first time, it's a couch," Daichi says, all the while opening up the first aid kit he had placed on the nearby table. "Couches are made for multiple people, and chairs are usually made just for one person." After spending a few minutes sifting through the (slightly) messy first aid kit, Daichi finds the antiseptic spray. "This spray is supposed to help, but it might sting at first," Daichi says, and only takes the cap off after Suga gives him a nod.
Daichi is surprised by Suga's reaction. Despite the fact that it is likely the first time he has ever experienced the feeling of antiseptic spray, he doesn't shout or gasp. He just winces. Despite the fact that he only winces, Daichi feels a bit bad for using the spray. After all, he told Suga he wouldn't hurt him. "Sorry about that," Daichi says, and in an effort to make it up to Suga, wraps his ankle with gauze as gently as possible. Perhaps too gently... His light touch makes the ticklish Suga laugh.
"Sawamura-san," Suga says in between giggles, "it tickles!" Even though Daichi knows that he should be trying to not tickle Suga, he does the opposite... He makes his touch even lighter, resulting in Suga laughing even more. Daichi loves the sound of Suga's laughter... He loves the sound of a stranger's laughter. He thinks a stranger is beautiful... He thinks the creature that seems to be part human and part bird before him is beautiful... Daichi can't help but feel that he is an idiot, for letting a stranger have such a large impact over his heart. At this rate, he'll fall in love with Suga. After a few minutes of tickling Suga, Daichi stops, stands, and starts to head to the bathroom. When he is just outside of the bathroom door, he hears Suga say, "thanks, Daichi." Suga's use of his first name makes his heart beat rapidly, and feel as though it is going to burst through his chest.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
While Daichi takes a bath, Suga decides to look at some of the books Daichi had been looking through. Suga is surprised to find a whole range of books... From books about wildlife, to fairy tales. Was Daichi hoping to figure out what he is using these books? As Suga wanders around the stacks of books, so does his mind. So far, Daichi hasn't given him any reason not to trust him... Yet, he feels uneasy. He still can't help but recall the images of his parents's dead bodies, and how it was obvious that someone, some human killed them. Perhaps the human who killed them wasn't dangerous from the start... Perhaps the human befriended them and betrayed them...
With a shaky breath, Suga glances out the nearby window. It is still raining... If he tried to leave, he would get cold again... He could get sick... Not to mention, with the current level of rain, flying is impossible. He would have to walk, and potentially get caught in a trap again...
Trap...
Was this all a trap? Is Daichi going to betray him... Is Daichi going to hurt him? Is Daichi going to kill him? He doesn't think so, yet he can't help but worry... He knows that the kingdom will be a mess with him temporarily gone... What would it be like if he was gone forever? Would everyone fight the humans? Would everyone fight each other? Suga doesn't want to imagine any of it, yet he does. He imagines every horrible possibility... Feeling scared, helpless, and alone, he sits on the floor and cries. He cries so hard that his face hurts.
He wants to trust Daichi...
But he doesn't want to get hurt.
He wants to trust Daichi...
But he doesn't want to die.
