Sugawara Koshi, King of the Crow-People is tired.

He is frustrated.

And most of all, afraid.

Over the years, as the human population has increased, their habit has decreased. Due to this, many of those that Sugawara cares about have been killed, or have disappeared, without a trace. That includes his parents. His parents had tried to find a place untouched by human society... They found no such place, no matter how far they flew. The humans seemed to be anywhere and everywhere. The two of them, seeing no other solution, decided to try to talk with the humans.

They failed...

They didn't return, but their bodies did.

The images of their bodies, bloated, blue lumps haunt him... They haunt him in his dreams, and flicker in and out of his vision during the day.

"Sugawara-sama," a familiar voice says, after first pecking on the wood outside the hollow to signal that he is about to enter, "Kageyama wants to speak with you."

"Tanaka," Sugawara says, with a small sigh, "We're friends. You don't have to call me Sugawara-sama. Just call me Suga-kun or -chan or Suga with any honorific BUT -sama. As for Kageyama... Let him in." Sugawara can't help but notice one of the kingdom's strongest warriors, (and his friend) eye him. He hopes that Tanaka can't see them... The feathers that have been falling out, due to his lack of sleep, due to his stress, due to his fear... His fear of not being able to save his people, his fear of ending up just like his parents...

"Fine," Tanaka says, "but if he-"

Kageyama hurries in, interrupting Tanaka. "WE SHOULD JUST FIGHT THEM" Kageyama yells, with a strange gleam in his eyes, "ALL OF THE OTHER ANIMALS ARE FIGHTING THEM! WHY AREN'T WE? WHY, SUGAWARA-SAMA?"

"Don't you remember," Sugawara says, with a small, tired sigh, "We are part human. To kill the humans would be like killing a part of ourselves. Besides, violence only leads to more violence." I say that Sugawara thinks, yet the real reason may be that I'm a coward. I'm a coward that doesn't want to loose anyone else that I care about... Kageyama, upon hearing Sugawara's response, exits without a word. "I'm worried about him... I'm worried about this kingdom and it's people and..." Sugawara, as he grows upset, he can feel himself shake. "I think I need to fly for a while." After reassuring Tanaka that he won't fly far, and that he will change into human form and walk back if he gets tired, Sugawara leaves. He leaves his home and responsibilities behind and tries to relax.

After a while, he can't help but notice that he has become too relaxed... In fact, he nearly fell asleep. If he were to fall asleep while flying, he would die!

Deciding that it is best to land, he does. Knowing that while he is on the ground that he is vulnerable in bird form, he transforms into his human form. Or rather, he tries to. Due to his lack of sleep, and therefore poor health, he can't get himself to transform the whole way. Although most of his bird body, including his wings are gone, he still has some feathers left. "I'm a mess, aren't I?" Sugawara says, with a small chuckle. "Perhaps it was a mistake for me to go flying..." As he thinks out loud, Sugawara walks. He admires the beauty of the trees, plants, and other animals. All of the beauty around distracts him, and leads to him walking right into a trap.

Luckily the trap isn't dangerous. It is just a rope that lifts him up off the ground, and makes him dangle from a tree by his leg. "As if this day couldn't get any worse..." Sugawara mutters. "Not only do I get little sleep, have Tanaka fuss over me, and listen to Kageyama yell. But now... Oh now I'm stuck in a trap and I'm to tired to transform back into bird form. How could this day get ANY worse?"

As it begins to rain... As he gets caught in a downpour, Sugawara can't help but wonder what he did to deserve it. He hasn't done anything, except for borrow Tanaka's moccasins (without permission) that could render him worthy of punishment.

Sugawara grows more and more grumpy with each passing second. He is tired, cold, and just really wants to go home. He wants to go home before anything else could go wrong...

I'm screwed, aren't I? Sugawara thinks, as he hears the cracking of twigs. So how will I die? Is it going to be a wolf? Is it going to be a bear? Or...

A human.

A human has found him.

Despite knowing that it probably won't work, Sugawara stammers, "Y-You're dreaming! Yes, y-you're dreaming. And in t-this dream, y-you're supposed t-to walk a-away from s-strangers... Now, w-walk away!" The human doesn't walk away. He just stares... He just stares at him with a strange look upon his face. "S-Shoo! Go a-away!"

"Like hell," the human says, walking closer to Sugawara, "Who are you? What are you?" Sugawara doesn't respond. "Fine, don't answer my questions. In turn, I won't help you down." The human then spins on his heels and starts to walk away. Despite being scared of the human, Sugawara decides that he needs him... He needs him to get him down, and to explain to him why there is a trap in his forest, in his kingdom. He has never been caught in a trap before... Hell, he only knows that the rope thing is a trap because of books he has read.

"I'MSUGAWARAKOSHI," Sugawara shouts, "PLEASEGETMEDOWNFROMHERE." Upon hearing him speak, the human turns around and walks over to him.

"Alright, I'll get you down, Sugawara."
