The room was quiet as I sat waiting for the doctor. He had just left and said he would be back. I was very tired and needed to go home and take a shower. I had to go to work as well.

There was a knock at the door followed by Dr. Huerta who opened the door for the nurse before leaving. The nurse who has attended me for years smiled at me and sat the tray on the bed next to me. Julia was her name... Julia was very patient with me.

"It's going to be a quick shot. If I were you, don't look at the needle you might faint" She smiled.

"I'll try not too." I said.

I looked away relaxing my arm. This shot was suppose to help me have no pain to my left shoulder.

After years of therapy I was able to move my arm again. I was glad. I had a couple of surgeries here and there but I could now move my arm. Something I thought would be impossible after I got shot.

Julia cleaned the spot on my shoulder with a wipe. She held me shoulder and whispered for me to relax. I felt a small pinch and the needle make it's way to my bone. I held my breath as she slowly let the fluid on to my bone. What I didn't feel was when she took the needle out.

"All done." She threw away the syringe and took her gloves off.

"And I didn't faint." I joked. She laughed and let me to the door. "Thank you." I said.

"I'll see you in three weeks." She gave me a paper. I took it and left to the nurse station. I gave them the paper and they set up my next appointment.

I walked through the hospital halls making my way to the elevators. I took the elevator up to the fourth floor. Yup same floor and room after all these years. 506 was still her room.

I slowly opened the door to her room and looked inside. I smiled as I saw Molly laying next to Taylor's feet. Little Layla sitting on a chair next to the bed trying to read a book to Taylor. She was trying because I could her hear describe what was going on in the picture and I had read her this book many of times.

I cleared my throat getting her attention. "Jams you're back!" She hoped off the chair and ran to me. I picked her up and hugged her.

"Are you ready to go home, Princess?"
"Already?" She pouted.

"I have to go take a shower and pick up a friend from the airport. We'll be back tomorrow." I said.

"Okay then, can you buy me some ice cream?" She asked.

"Yeah come on get Molly's leash."

She went to put the leash on Molly and told her to get off the bed. I put the chair Layla was using back to its place. I bend over and gave Taylor a kiss on the forehead. "I love you baby, we'll be back soon."

I looked over at Layla who was waiting for me. She stood there and watched me. I walked over to her and held her hand as we walked out of the room. I took the leash from her hand before Molly pulled her around like a doll.

Molly was now a full grown golden retriever. As she walked on four legs she was just a bit taller then Layla and when she stood on two she was my size.

We made it to my car and I put Layla in her car seat. She was to small to be without one. Molly got in next to her and took a seat. I started up the car and I made my way to the ice cream shop.

Layla had been attached to me since she was a small baby. And almost five years later she was still following me around. I guess I just spoiled her a lot. Like a lot. I wanted her to grow up and be happy. Now in days society was bring girls down at a young age. I made sure Layla never felt insecure and she was always happy. I tried not to deny her simple things. For example ice cream, it was ice cream let the child be happy. Who cares if we were in the middle of cold January.
