I scribbled down the last of the notes. My pencil swiftly moving on the paper. My professor was about to finish the lecture. It was a quick run down of the lesson for the rest of the week.

"That's lecture everybody! Please be prepared for next week." Professor Darwin said.

I packed my things and got up. I had to go pick up Layla. She had dance practice and I wanted to take her. She was such an active girl.

"Hey handsome where you going?"

I kept walking looking at the girl beside me. "I'm going to pick up Layla." I told her.

"Is something wrong?" She looked at me in the eyes.

"No." I shook my head. We kept walking making our way to the parking lot.

"I've known you for years now. Something is up... Come on tell me. I'm your best of friends!" She exclaimed.

"Come on, Jess, drop it. I said there was nothing. Where's your girl at?"

"She is on her way over here but she can wait while you tell me what's wrong." She hit my shoulder with hers.

"Layla wants me to go for her but I don't want to see my mom. She is getting on my nerves." I rolled my eyes.

"Bruh, don't stress to much. She wants to get on your good side."

"I don't want her on my good side... Or any side for that matter." I muttered.

Jessica had been a great friend since my first summer in college. She had a snap back on, covering her straight brown hair just below her shoulders. There was always a playful smirk on her thin lips, which carried a lip ring. Flat chested, as tall as me, and always wearing black but I didn't care. She is super chill, I almost forget that she is a girl. The fact that she has a girlfriend doesn't help. But they were both great friends.

"She's your mom... Think about what Taylor would say."

"You did not just bring Taylor into this..." I sigh and shook my head.

"Sorry. Look here comes Jenny." Her nose wrinkled in dislike. I turned just in time to see her stand in front of me. "Well James, I got to go. Emily is waiting for me."

Jenny smiled at me and waved her hand. I forced quick smile. I turned back to Jess giving her the don't leave me look. Pleading to not leave me with blonde bitch over here.

"I-I mean she.. wants us to go to lunch together?" She stuttered in question.

"Oh I mean if you insist..." I turned to Jenny. "Sorry Jenny, I have to go. We'll talk some other time." I said.

"You're always busy." She rolled her eyes.

"Well.. I do have a life..." I muttered.

"And I want to hang out with you. I'll just join you guys for lunch!"

"No!" Jess said quickly.

"Why not." Jenny asked.

Jess stepped closer to Jenny's face. She was a lot taller than her and knew how to box which scared me the most right now. "Because I don't like you. Now go sniff someone else's butt this guy is taken."

"And I have yet to see his girlfriend. Unless he's gay like you but I doubt that."

"Calling me gay isn't going to kill me. I'm in a relationship and I'm not trying to steal someones partner like you."

"Get out of my face!" Jenny pushed Jessica back. I held Jessica back moving in front of her.

"Jenny please not today. I have a lot to do and when I say later, I mean later when I feel like it." I looked at her. I nodded and turned around grabbing hold of Jess' arm walking away.
