We sat there in silence. I cuddled onto his chest as he put his arm around me. I felt like I was out of energy.
"You won't tell anyone right?"
"That you got your memory back?" He asked. I nodded my head. "No. I promise it's between us only."
"I'm sorry I shot you." I whispered.
"No I got in the way. It wasn't your fault."
"I shouldn't even have had that gun, let alone pull the trigger... five years in a coma, James, and I wake up to practically the same problem."
He played with my hair. "We'll get through this together."
"We always have." I said. "And you know what? I don't care what anyone has to say, you're my boyfriend."
"You want me to be you're boyfriend?" He sounded confused.
"No. You are my boyfriend."
"Demanding, I love it." He smiled. "Same old you."
"You know, I can't wait for this to be over. I wouldn't mind trying to get back thoes five lost years with you."
"After everything you still want to be with me?" He asked.
I laughed lightly. "Lets run away."
"I wish..." He chuckled. "But we are adults now, we can't just run away from our problems."
"I know." I sighed. "Hey you're the best man for my... my dad's wedding, right?" It was hard to just call him 'dad' now.
"Maybe."
"I overheard my dad." I said. "You know the wedding is right around the corner."
"I know and being at the same place, at the same time is risky. I don't want a special day to go down the drain."
"I can't believe they are getting married. Debbie and Mr- my dad, wow it's so weird." I grabbed his hand putting our palms together. His hand was a lot bigger than mine of course but it was soft. "I thought I would be getting married at this age."
"Really? With who?" He asked. His eyes twinkled as he looked down at me.
"With the only man I could ever love... can't believe I just said man." I laughed. "Life goes by fast. I mean I didn't even see Layla as a baby."
"She was a cute baby-"
I gasped cutting him off. "I have a sleepover with Layla. Shit, I totally forgot!"
"A sleepover? With my little sister? What are you five?" He smirked.
"You're just jealous. If only there was a way to sneak you in, I would." I smiled. "Hey do you think I can take this hoodie with me?"
"I don't think you should, but you could take it and hide it." He said. "It looks very good on you."
My phone rang and I quickly took it out of my pocket. It was Debbie calling me. "It's Debbie, be quiet." I told him as I answered. "Hello?"
"Mary says you're not home, Taylor."
"I... came to the store to buy junk food for my sleepover with Layla. I hope you don't mind that she's coming over. She is so adorable, I wanted to spend time with her."
"Okay, just get home before your father does or we'll both be in trouble." She said.
"Okay."
"And please tell me you have a guard with you."
"Yes, I do."
"Actually let me talk to him."
"Hold on." I muted the phone so she wouldn't hear me. "Shit, pretend you're my guard, give her a deep voice, please." I put the phone on speaker and unmuted the call.
