I knew I could get in trouble for sneaking out. In reality I didn't care. I wanted answers and my parents weren't helping. I had paid Philip two hundred dollars to drive me to a couple of places today. Without telling my dad of course or anyone for a matter a fact. Except Mary who was feeling better today and was at the table this morning when they were having breakfast. I guess Mary and Philip were together and he told her about it. It was fine she would keep everyone distracted of course. I also paid my guard 35 dollars to keep shut and follow me.

Now here we were at the police station. I walked in to the front desk.

"How can I help you.... Miss Ryan?" The man said as he looked at me. "Miss Ryan it's a pleasure to meet you."

I gave him a smile. His name tag said Colbolt.

"Hello Oficer Colbolt, I came to see if there is a file on a missing person."

"Missing person? Just give me their name." He said.

"James Cameron McDaniels." I said.

"What was that?" The man behind him asked. "Colbolt let the lady into my office."

"Are you sure?" The officer asked.

"Yes I'll handle this." He said again. This man was different. He wasn't in a police uniform. What he was wearing was more of a casual long sleeve button up with a tie and slacks.

I followed officer Colbolt to the man's office were he told me to take a seat while me guard stood outside.

"I'm Detective Dave Stanford." The man said walking in.

"I'm guessing you know who I am." I said.

"Yes Taylor. I handled your case a few years back. My biggest kiddnapping case ever."

"You know James?"

"Yeah, he was in here about two weeks ago. Apparently I'm not done with you're guy's case." He said.

"Where is he?"

"Miss Grayson has strict orders." He said.

My mom had to do with this? She knows where he's at? That is hurtful. I feel betrayed and lied to.

"How much?"

"Excuse me?" He asked.

"How much did she pay you? How much do you want?"

"There was no price. She just asked. And I agreed with her, it's a safety issue."

"Where is he?" I growled.

"I can't tell you." He said. "Why don't you go home little girl. You're parents must be worried."

"I'm a woman. And I can take care of myself."

"You're smart, but you're looking in the wrong place. You might not know me, but I do care about your safety. I'm sorry Miss Ryan but you're search won't stop here."

"Answer me this than, is he alive?"

I watched his face for any reaction. He gulped and looked down at his desk. He licked his lips before answering. "Yes."
