It's been a week since I got told I was expecting a child. Today I sit nervously in the waiting room of the health center. But I wasn't alone. Thomas had came by the studio earlier, and he had breakfast. (I'm not supposed to eat anything before the ultrasound, so I'm starving.) He wanted to come along, and who was I to say no. I didn't want to be alone either way. He was great company.

This is the first ultrasound I get. I'm so nervous, I can't stop moving. My leg is shaking, up and down. I keep playing with my fingers. And I wish an experienced adult was here with me.

Like Jenna.

I wish Jenna was here.

I wish she could tell me what to do.

"Do you want a boy or girl?" Thomas asked.

I looked at the guard who sat next to me. He coughed and looked the other way. I knew he wouldn't say anything.

"Which ever one I have. I'm not going to be picky." I told him.

"Philip, your chauffeur, said today is your birthday. Is it true?"

"Um, yeah."

"Happy birthday, I didn't know, but I found this flower outside."

"Aw, thank you Thomas." I took the delicate flower from his hand and put it in my hair. "How do I look?" I posed.

"Pretty." He smiled.

"Thomas you have to promise you won't mention my pregnancy to anyone."

"I promise." He whispered. "When can I see your dog?"

"Tomorrow. You can come over tomorrow, and my dog will be there." I said.

"Taylor Ryan?" The nurse called.

I took in a deep breath and stood up. "Come on." I told Thomas.

We followed the nurse into a room. She weighed me, and took my height. She checked my temperature, and pressure before she went to get the doctor.

Thomas sat there looking around the room. He was a curious boy, his eyes bouncing from poster to poster.

"So if no one can know about your baby, does your boyfriend know?"

"Which one?"

He gave me a weird look.

"I mean no. He doesn't. I have to be super sure about this. That's why I'm getting an ultrasound."

"That sounds like it hurts. Are they going to hurt you!?"

"No, it's not supposed to hurt. An ultrasound is when they use sound waves to show you what's in you. The sound waves should hit the baby and it'll appear on the little monitor."

"Will the baby be hurt?" He asked.

"Um, no. It does no harm."

They knocked and then the doctor came in. The nurse pushed the cart with the monitor into the room and then left.

"Alright Taylor, I'm glad to have you back. Happy birthday. This should help confirm your pregnancy. Then I'll be able to give you a due date." She smiled. "And who's this young boy?"

"That's Thomas, a friend of mine." I said. Thomas stood up and stretched out his arm for a handshake, that Dr. Ming gladly took.

"Nice to meet you." He greeted her.

"What a gentleman." Dr. Ming said.

She had me lay down on the bed and lift up my shirt. I had to pull my pants a little lower, making me feel uncomfortable. She turned on the monitor, and grabbed a tube.
