Chapter 2- The Game
I slammed my locker shut as Rebecca keep talking about how well her date went with Andrew over the weekend. I sighed and keep listening but changed my attention down the hall where Austin stood by his locker, starring at me. I couldn't keep my mind off Friday night. Austin seemed like he cared about me but then was rude. It was confussing.
"Julia, what are you looking at?" Rebecca asked causing me to look back at her.
"Nothing." I said before she could trun around.
"So what happend with you and Austin Friday night? I noticed he took you home." Rebecca smirked.
"Nothing happened but, I don't know." I sighed, looking down at the tile flooring.
"We should talk later. I say we get some coffee and talk about Austin." I nodded and Rebecca turned down the hall and headed for her next class.
I had to head to history. My last class of the day. When I got into the class the bell rang and I headed to my seat, next to Austin who turned in his seat a little to be facing away from me. I sighed and opened my note book and started drawing. My mind drifted from drawing and the teacher.
"I know I'm hot but you don't need to draw a picture of me." Cool breathe brushed across my neck.
I turned my head to see Austin hovering by my shoulder and then looked back at my note book. Sure enough there was a drawing of Austin, like I saw him in the hallway, leaning against the wall looking at me.
I closed my note book and looked ahead.
"It's a good drawing." Austin said.
I felt question ping my mind as I thought of Friday night. He was just playing with my head. Just face the front and don't talk or look at him, I told myself.
The bell rang, I all but rocket launched out of the class room. I quickly made my way to my locker, grabbing my last few things. Again the cool breathe hot my neck.
"What?" I asked, almost hissing.
I turned around to face him. His eyes were dark, a scary dark, almost black. I backed up to my locker trying to create from distance from us.
Just like that Austin stood and walked away. He looked in pain by the way he walked. His eyes. I took a deep breathe before walking to the front doors to meet Rebecca for coffee.
"So start talking." Rebecca said as we sat in a booth at Starbucks.
I tapped my fingers against my coffee cup as I thought about what to say.
"Austin seemed so nice for taking me home but it's just confusing." I answered, looking down at the table.
"What do you mean?" She asked.
I looked back up at her, "he can be so nice and caring then boom he's rude again. I feel like he's playing a game and I can't figure it out."
I noticed Rebecca's jaw muscles working, almost like she had something to say but was debating weather she would tell me or not.
"Is there something I don't know?" I asked.
"No." Rebecca answered quickly. She seemed bothered.
We went silent after that and drank our coffees before we said our goodbyes and heading to our cars. Rebecca just seemed to fidget after I mentioned Austin's little game. I feel like there was more behind this, and I was gonna find out.

So what do you think Austin's little game is? Or why Rebecca was fidgeting?
