Chapter 4- Kiss of Blood
"No-no." My voice was falling on me as the man got closer.
"I'm not going to hurt you.....Much." He stepped closer till I could see his eyes in the dim moon light. They were black, like Austin's the day he was at my locker.
"What do you want?" I asked I little higher than a whisper.
His fingers brushed my neck causing me to stiffen. He brought his mouth down by my neck as I came to confussion as to what he was doing but was inturupted by a sharp pain that stung at the nook of my neck, where my shoulder and neck meet. A scream left my lips as the pain stayed.
"Let her go, she's not your dinner." A voice, deep but strong said.
The man who had bitten my neck pulled away and turned to face the direction of the voice.
"And who is to decide that?" The man asked with an evil grin plastered to his face.
A shadowy figure stepped out from the trees, as he came closer, I noticed who had just saved me. Austin.
"Leave her alone Rider. You wouldn't kill another's mate would you?" Austin asked, I noticed his eyes were not their normal hazel but a black.
"She's your mate huh? Then why is she running through the woods alone?" The man Austin had refured to as Rider.
"I didn't know she had come through here. She dosen't listen too well." Austin fixed his gaze on me then back to Rider.
"Just keep her away from places she shouldn't be." Rider nearly growled before running off through the trees.
"Are you stupid?" Austin asked walking towards me.
I gave him a questioning look.
"I told you that there were strange attacks in these woods so you decide it's a good idea to come here at night?" Austin croushed infront of me.
"I forgot. I left my journal here and I came back to get it." I said.
"Let's get you home and cleaned up." Austin said before lifting me in his arms.
It was silent as we walked back to the clearing where my house was. Austin set me to my feet before helping me climb up to my window as we both snuck inside my room.
"He's a vampire isn't he?" I asked while Austin began cleaning the bite on my neck with a wet rag.
"Yes." He answered keeping his eyes on my neck.
"You're one too?" I asked.
"Yes." He answered again.
"What did you mean by he wouldn't kill another one's mate?" I asked remembering that confersation they had.
"Why are you asking so many questions?" Austin dropped the rag and looked at me.
"I've been so confussed by why you've been treating me like crap since I moved here and just now I'm getting answers." I kept my voice low considering my brother and mom were just down the hall.
"Your my mate." Austin said before turning his back to me as he headed to my hamper to through the rag away.
"Is that a bad thing?" I asked.
"It's horrible. I can't be around you, what if I lose myself and hurt you or worse kill you? So acting like I had since you got here, I thought would make you not like me at all." Austin ran a hand through his hair before turning back to face me.
"Well if I am your mate then you wouldn't do anything to hurt me." I said pushing my shoulders to be straight.
"It's not that easy." Austin walked closer to me, taking my hands.
It was silent, Austin stared into my eyes.
"Do you mind if I help your bite heal?" Austin asked.
"No." I said.
Austin dipped his head down to the bite mark. I could feel his tongue move over it causing chills to run up my spine. When he was finished he kissed the spot and rested his head on my shoulder.
"Try?" I asked.
"Try." He answered.
We were gonna try this between us.
