October 25 2020

The sirens and flashing lights made me squint, trying to move my hands to cover my ears.
"Shh, don't move sweetie they'll be here soon". Her voice sounded soft and comforting.

My head held no recollection of what had happened. I could hear my heart pounding in my ears like a drum. My heart needing Finn like it always did when something happened.

The truck stopped, doors opening as the emergency service team lifted me into the truck.
"What's your name?" A young man questioned, looking at me with sympathy.
"Bella... Isabella Hunter. Where am I?" My vision became blurred, the man constantly tapped me "Bella," he cried.

I woke up in an unfamiliar bed. My clothes had been changed. I no longer wore my pretty floral dress, but a white dress that felt as tough as paper.
A woman walked towards me her hair in plaits that rested on her shoulders. Her eyes glanced at her clipboard and she spoke softly: "Isabella Hunter?"
I gently nodded. "Where am I? What happened?," I asked, dazed.

"Isabelle, you were in an accident. Do you remember anything?" She replied coming closer to me, the sympathetic look still remained on her face. I shook my head.

"An eyes witness said that you fell of a wall. The large one in..."
"I know the wall," I muttered.
"A fall like that should have killed you, Isabelle. But it didn't. I have never seen anything like it.
After the fall you lost a lot of blood and were concussed, that's probably why you don't remember anything. Isabella, I have never seen anything like it. The blood alone should have killed you. Your heart stopped when you hit the ground but somehow it managed to beat again. You left with minor injuries, just brushing. But the fall should have left you paralysed. It's a mystery that I will never be able to solve," she said, exiting the room, " you should probably get some rest".

I awoke to a strangers face. But he wasn't a stranger. I recognised him. My memory blurred. I sat up straight, alert.
"Sorry Belle, I didn't mean to startle you".

Belle.

Only one person calls me that.

Finn.

The man's shoulder were broad, his features crisp and defined. His skin bronzed like he'd been on an exotic holiday. His muscular arms stood conspicuous beneath his check shirt. His hair raven black, messy from his lack of sleep.

"Who are you?" I asked, my head still buzzing from the concussion.
"I'm Liam, do you not remember, Belle?" I shook my head.
" I was on the way to work and I saw you. Standing at Finn's wall. I saw you fall, called the ambulance when your heart started beating again".
"Wait. How do you know Finn?" I questioned.
"He was my friend at university. We studied the same course, became close friends... He missed you you know Belle. He'd always talk about going to see you until that day. The day when your name became a piece of the past. You broke his heart and part of his heart never recovered." A tear trickled down my face, hearing Finn in pain. I could have stopped this all.
"You know-"
"I know about Finn. I'm so sorry Bella. It's not your fault... Don't cry. He did what he wanted and although he left us behind, he wanted to live a happier life," Liam reassured me, despite a slight uncertainty in his voice.
"Thank you, Liam." I said and he left the room, smiling.
"You know I'd always call Finn smelliot too right." I chuckled as he closed the door behind him.
