Baby Blues_Chapter 43

The show was starting and the audience was surprised to see Simon walk out on stage. “Welcome to the X Factor.” he said with a smile.

The crowd went wild.

"As you know I don't normally come out here and talk to you,” Simon said with a little laugh.

“Tonight, is about love and family. And a big part of my family is One Direction.”

The crowd grew even louder, as there had been no announcement that the boys would be there.

“Tonight, Zayn and Emma Malik have something they want to share with you all.”

Simon said and stepped off to the side of the stage. The house lights went down and the video began to play on the large screen.

Emma and the rest of the guys watched from the green room. She was very nervous. She shouldn’t have been though. She had been on the X Factor a dozen times. The fans loved her.

“You okay baby?” Zayn asked as he took her hand in his.

“Yeah. I’m fine.” She and Zayn had done an interview with Mario Lopez the day before and they asked the producers to play that before they went out to join Simon on stage.

“We’ll all be here if you need us love.” Zayn said kissing her nose.

Emma hugged him tightly.

“Don’t worry Em. This is a piece of cake for you. “ Louis said with a smirk.

“Five minutes Mrs. Malik.” An intern yelled into the room. Emma stood up and pulled down her shirt over her expanding stomach.

“Showtime.” She said with a smile. She followed the intern out of the room and Zayn and the rest of the guys sat back to watch.

The lights dimmed and Zayn and Emma’s image appeared on the screen.  Emma could feel her heart rate increasing as she watched. Waiting for reactions.

“You and Emma have some news.” Mario said.

“Yeah we do. Not very pleasant news I’m afraid.”

Emma could hear the gasps of the audience. Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea. She continued to watch, holding her breath.

“There is nothing wrong with the babies.”

Mario looked at them and raised an eyebrow. “Babies?”

“Yeah, we’re having twins.”

“Congratulations.”

“Thank you.”

“But there is something else going on?” Mario asked.

“Yes. We found out a few months ago that I have been diagnosed with cancer. I have a brain tumor.”

“Oh my God. Um, I don’t know what to say.”

“It’s okay. We’re dealing with it. We just wanted to clear up the rumors that have been printed in the tabloids recently.” Zayn said wrapping his arm around Emma.

“Are you having chemo?”

“No, any chemo that I have would seriously affect our unborn children. The tumor is growing and I can’t take the risk of my children dying. And I don’t know if I will have chemo after they are born.”

Mario was shaken considerably. He wasn’t expecting this kind of news.

“And we wanted to let all of Zayn’s fans and the fans of One Direction the truth. Not some garbage that was written in the tabloids.”

“Will the tumor stop growing?”

“We don’t know.”

The lights in the auditoriom came back on. A stunned look appeared on the faces of the X Factor judges. Many of the female audience members were crying..

“Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Emma Malik.” Simon said.

Emma came out, the audience was on its feet. Clapping, crying. When she approached Simon, he was pulled her in to a hug. “I'm very proud of you,” he whispered to her and kissed the top of her head.

Emma told the audience of her plans to start a foundation and plans for the carnival.

After that One Direction performed to the still shocked audience.
