"Don't worry! I understand. There was no excuse for what we did. I mean--not I personally," he said resting his hand on his chest, pompously. "I would never..." My prosaic attitude towards him changed as I realized how flamboyant he was; it was amusing almost. 

"It's alright," I said, lackluster in tone. "I hate that you lost your job, but I did too."

"He fired you?" he asked, astonished.

"I quit," I spoke.
