Sometime back in February, I got inspired by the way my piano keys looked under low light and started this drawing as only an experiment to see how well I could shade them. I got a little bit into the outlining of the piano when I decided to add a hand playing it since I've improved a lot on hands lately. The hand is in the position to play a B Minor chord, which is one of my favorite chords, so I did do that intentionally. My piano and my hand were the only things used as reference. This drawing is meant to show my love for playing the piano as well as its hidden concept in relation to Tristam's song Devotion, which came out while the piano was in progress and inspired me to draw the flames around it and then name the drawing after the song. If you know the song, you may be able to recognize the meaning behind its attachment to the drawing, and if you don't know it, I'd definitely recommend listening to it when you need music to relax you. I started the shading on the black keys right after I finished outlining the piano, then completely finished those before shading the white keys one at a time. The shading on the hand was the very last thing I did. I really like the way the realism aspect came out in most areas of the drawing, and I'm definitely proud of this one overall. I hope you can see the same beauty I do in it through your eyes. :)
