• Brianne's POV •
* 2 weeks later *
"I would highly advise you that you finish your sculptures today and so when we see each other again we can present. The quicker the faster we are out of each other's lives," Mr. Lyles laughed,"Let's get busy."
Weeks ago I had finished my sculpture of Deshawn since I did the finishing touches of it in my dorm. He had begun on me a while back but wasn't quite finished. Not once would he let me sneak and see his work. He claimed I'd just have to wait to see his masterpiece on presentation day.
"Turn," Deshawn ordered. He was extremely focused on what ever he was doing. I sighed and turned on my heel to the side.
I looked over at Brooklyn and her partners work station. She seemed to not be doing any work. (As usual)
"So when's the championship?" I asked trying to make small talk.
"Next week," D said still not looking up.
"Are you ready?"
"As ready as one can be," he replied.
" Can I see now?"
"No Bri, I'm working."
I moaned," You're no fun."
Deshawn chuckled while scratching his head," I'm debating on weather I should add that thing you have behind your ear near your neck."
"Are you talking about my little birth mark?" I asked frowning down the corner of my mouth.
"Yes, but then again I don't want the whole class to know everything on what is mine."
I gazed at him out the corner of my eye. Over the past few weeks I've grown to know somewhat of how Deshawn operates.
1. He was really good at saying slick remarks to the point you didn't fully comprehend what he had said until 5 minutes later
2. He was a natural flirt (I think he's done it so much he can't even tell when he himself is doing it)
3. He was funny, yet very hard and serious
4. He liked to tease (more so verbally)
And 5. He could show affection and be a good type of possessive but it had an on and off switch. One day he'd want to kiss all up on me and I the next he wanted to sit on opposite ends of his couch like I had did something to him. (A bit bipolar if you ask me)
"Oh, I thought I belonged to myself, " I replied.
"Yeah right. You know you lost those privileges almost a month ago." Deshawn said smiling.
I stuck my middle finger up at him and stuck my tongue out too.
"Please tell me when," he smiled happily while biting his lip. If he kept giving me looks like that it might just happen.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I came back to an empty dorm. That gave around a good hour to do whatever I pleased. I laid out across my twin bed because a nap deemed to be good right about now. I kicked off my socks and just laid there.
As soon as I began to drift off my phone rang. I looked at the caller I.D., it read: Mommy. Yes I still say mommy. I believe that I'm never too old for that.
"Hello?" I said putting the phone up to my ear.
"Hey honey," my moms voice came through," how's it going?"
"I'm good and you?"
"Just fine now that I hear you're voice. I just called to let you know I purchased my ticket to Chicago and your dad said he got his last week. So expect to see us soon on graduation day."My mom and dad were never married when they had me. They were just in a relationship with each other that eventually fell apart when I was around 3. My mom moved us from Atlanta to a little on the outside of it in Marietta. My dad stayed in the A though since that's where his job as a sports anchor was. He worked for a branch of ESPN, which growing up I thought was the coolest thing ever. I spent my weekends in the city with him and stayed with my mom during the week when I had school and all. They remained friends for my sake so that I could have a strong relationship with them both, which I do. As for my mom, she was a real estate agent and specialist in home decor and design. All she ever watched on tv was HGTV. Living here in Chicago and basically living in Atlanta wasn't too different in terms of traffic and living (except for the crime rate). So I adapted pretty well here for the most part.
"That's great. I can't wait to see you guys. I miss you so much," I cried.
"We miss you too. And I'm so proud of you, baby. So have you decided on what you're going to do?"
"Do what?" I said trying to jog my memory.
"Decide where you're going to take your medical exam to be licensed. You know I've noticed how you've grown to like it up in that cold weather but there's no place like home."
"Oh...that," I sighed. I had started of college here with the idea I would get my degree and take the exam at home and I would be medically recognized in Georgia as pediatric nurse. But that was 4 years ago. I've made life long friends such as Brooklyn that wasn't trying to go back home, they wanted to stay in Chicago. And Rakeem who already dreamed of living here anyways. Then there was Deshawn. He was already from here he had no where to return to after graduation. Our relationship is just starting to grow as well. It might sound off but I can honestly see this relationship going somewhere even though it's been a bit over a month. But hey, you can't deny who you have mad feelings for. I wanted to see this relationship with him through before I just pick up and leave. On the other hand, I missed Georgia. That was home. Growing up there I never considered leaving. Why leave a place where most people love to go? I still had childhood friends there that were at GSU. I was honestly putting off this decision off for the longest since I didn't know what to do and here it was creeping right back up on me.
"I...I still have some time to think," I told her.
"Well you graduate after the end of this month....and after graduation you have to take the test, Brianne. You better get to thinking." My momma scolded.
"I know I know," I sighed," I promise I'll have my decision before you guys come up here."
"Alright, well I'll talk to you later," my mom spoke.
"Ok bye I love you," I said ending the call.
I rolled over on my stomach and buried my face in my pillow. Decisions, decisions I thought to myself. What the hell should I do?Text from: Deshawn😊💕
