Third Person's P. O. V

The dark charcoal wolf trots through the darkness, its dark golden eyes looking around nervously. He had died too early and now he was searching for his way back home on earth. He looks up to the dark sky, a crescent moon high in the air. He lifts his muzzle to the sky, howling a song of sorrow, loss, and of a lost love. The soft melody brings the Alpha Female out of her slumber.

Alexa's P. O. V

I wake with a shudder and a hauntingly beautiful melody in my head, making Tyler's arms tighten slightly. He mumbles incoherently and I look at the clock, midnight. A crescent moon lit up the dark sky, not a star to be seen. Johnny's large amber eyes look at me and I blink. He rises from the ground and lays under my hand, which was hanging over the bed. He rubs up under my hand, and I pet him slowly. Tyler groans and buries his head in my neck, his hands over my stomach.

My baby bump was slightly starting and it was barely a week now since the day Katie told me. I knew Shifters had a third of a normal human's pregnancy, but I shouldn't be showing this early.

"Wake up, sweetheart." Someone whispers in my ear and I paw them away, but they chuckle and nip my finger. I pull my blanket over my head and then someone lays their head over my stomach. I hide my smile and I slowly lower the blanket. Greenish-gray eyes laugh when my silver gray ones meet them. I reach to touch Tyler's hair but something tells me I shouldn't. I simply start to close my eyes again, tired. "Wake up, Alexa. Breakfast is ready." I hear Tyler say and I open my eyes, finding him in the same spot. I lean my head back and I feel teeth nip the base of my throat. I tremble and his hand massages my thigh, creeping up slowly. I quickly flip us, and rest my hands on his shoulders. I let Echo have some control, and my eyes have an unearthly glow to them. He growls friskily and I kiss his jaw. I lower my shorts legs and quickly run out of the room. I hear him growl and start to follow me. I run past the dining room, where I hear forks and knifes clatter against the plates. "Alexa!" I hear Kane call but I run right out the back door. I hear the door slam open behind me and I laugh when I hear Tyler growl in annoyance. I see the edge of the earth before it cuts off, coming to the small creek ahead. I slow, letting Tyler catch up. He grins and smile back before I jump.

I was Tyler's prey and he was the hunter. And he loved the chase. That frisky growl starts up again, and I know the hunt just turns him on. It doesn't get him annoyed. My eyes dance with wildness and laughter and I climb up the tree. I hide among the thickness of the leaves, looking down at him staring up into the trees. I lean against the trunk and hear him growl in frustration. "Come out already. I'm not going to climb up to get you." He barks and I peek my head out. He wasn't there. I climb higher up until I can see the Old Pine from my perch. I hear two howls, calling for me and Tyler. I start to descend the tree, careful not the fall or slip. I easily make my way back towards the house when I'm ambushed by something. I instantly cover my face, like River taught me. I peek open an eye, and greenish-gray eyes laugh at me. "Come on, love. They've been waiting on you." Tyler says, trying not to laugh. I shift and run off without him. He comes loping after me, shifted.
You're a Lycan.
You're a Sinclair.
But I'm not a monster.
I'm no monster. Neither is my mom, dad, sister, or Dallas.
I trust you guys, but Lycans haven't been on earth for centuries.
We've been in hiding. We couldn't risk getting ourselves killed. Dallas has been making sure to be careful, he doesn't want to end up dead like his parents.
Like I said, I trust you. But be careful. I don't need any one of you to die.
Aww, my Alpha has a heart.
Aww, bye now Alpha.
I run off faster, leaving him behind. He barks and tries to match my speed, but fails terribly. I make it home first, and shift back. I wait for Tyler and he shows up ten minutes later. He shifts back, his face blank. He walks past me, not even acknowledging me. Hurt flashes across my face, eyes, and in my heart. I walk in, and Johnny follows at my heels. I fix my hair and walk into the dining room, where Tyler was already eating. I sit beside River, who smiles at me. Tyler eyes me angrily when I return the smile. Tension is heavy in the air when I meet Tyler's eyes. I stand up abruptly, grab my bowl of cereal, and stalk off towards the kitchen. I jump up onto the counter, leaving my cereal beside me. I bitterly pick at my fingernails, my anger just growing until I could feel and taste it in the air.
Then suddenly, hands pull my face to their eager lips, and push me back against the counter. I sink into them, then the smell stops me. This wasn't Tyler, who smelled of pines and evergreens. This scent smelled of the powerful river and the fir trees that shielded the river from others. I pull away and slap him. "Never again do you try this with me Brendan Adair." I snarl and his eyes aren't dark blue, calm and laughing like usual. No, they were ice blue, cold, and harsh. His lip curls up, showing sharpened fangs. A tattooed hand wraps behind his neck and squeezes, knocking unconscious. I wrap my arms around Tyler's neck, and his arms wrap around me, pulling me against him. Kane walks in and looks at the one on the ground. "What happened?" He demands, his voice a low tone. "He kissed me then I slapped him then I saw something changed in him." I say, and shudder. Tyler holds me closer to him and River walks in.

River's P. O. V

I see Alexa in Tyler's arms and jealousy burns hot in my veins. All I see is red when I walk out the backdoor. I shift and my head snaps up, seeing and smelling a young deer coming out of the forest. The deer turns towards a wider range and I take off at a run, my muzzle twisted in a snarl. It bleats and starts to run, it's head bent back. It runs towards a heavily forested area and I lose its trail.

I leap over a log, my anger and jealousy taking over

I leap over a log, my anger and jealousy taking over. I find it drinking from the small creek, and I stay downwind of it. It looks around and I hide in the snow. It dips its head once more and I leap. My jaws lock on its neck, squeezing. I look into its large brown eye, and see its life slowly fading out. I start to remember how Ash's eyes looked before he truly died, and I start to loosen my bite. But the memory of the day Alexa told me she was pregnant with our child. Now, she was pregnant with another man's child.
My anger starts up again and I jerk my head back, tearing the throat wide open. It collapses and I give in to the anger.

*20 Minutes Later

I dip my paw into the creek, slowly stepping in. Blood painted the fur on the front of my body, paw to head. I step into the deeper part, the blood of the deer coming off me in waves. More was still running in from the bank. I turn my head, staring at the mess I made. What had been a whole buck was now a bloody mess. The only whole thing left was the head with its small antlers. Everything else was turned to bloody pieces that would be unrecognizable. I start to remove the blood, and I try to contain my anger. I hear a branch snap and I look around. The small white female steps towards me.
River, what did you do?
Just leave me alone Alexa.
No. I'm not going to leave you alone. You look at me then bolt.
I just didn't want to see you.
Sure. You've been avoiding me since I came with Tyler.
Just shut up and go back home. It's where you belong.
I belong where you go. You're still my mate until one of us rejects the other.
Then I'll do it now.
You wouldn't.
I, River Stark, Alpha of the Bloodied Peak Pack, hereby reject you, Alexa Sinclair, Alpha Female of the Red Hill and Bloodied Peak Pack, as my mate.
Once I said those words, a burning pain starts in my lower stomach. It crawls up to my heart and I start panting. She falters and pain shines in her eyes. A cry of pain comes from her mouth and she falls only an inch from the lifeless head of the buck. I collapse across from her, my eyes glassy. I start shaking, and she shuts her eyes. I knew right then, that I made the worst mistake of my life.
