I wake up at dawn and send out the call.
Meet me at the cliff, training in an hour. I say and I head out to the cliff. I shift and run off.I find Luke waiting there already.
Alpha, everyone is on their ways. Just getting prepared. He tells me and I nod.
Perfect. And Luke, I start.
Yeah?
I'm taking my place again. I say and he stills.
You can't be serious.
I am. This pack needs a strong Alpha. Alexa is not that. His eyes turn to fury at my words.
You still love her. After all she's put you through. I bark and he looks down.
Yes, I always will. I can't stop.
But she will always love Kyle, no matter what. I say and he growls at his name.Luke hates Kyle. And I get the feeling he always will hate him for stealing his girl away from him. I knew Alexa was going to choose Kyle over Luke. Declan, Kaye, Briar, Elle, Bren, we all knew it. It was only a matter of time until Luke realized it. He didn't want to admit it, but he knew he would never get her. Declan always had the best chance at winning her heart, being her best friend and all. But it was the baseball player who won her over. And now I had to be the one to end their happiness. I couldn't ignore the fact that the pack spoke. They despised their bonding. It was not RedHill custom for an Enforcer and an Alpha to be together. The female Alpha always paired off with another Alpha. Never did that change. Until my sister changed the laws. The night before I killed Kyle, his mother called me. She asked me to end the disgrace of a son she had birthed. She disowned him that night. She couldn't stand the fact that he broke our most absolute law. She hated that he did it. His father even disowned him. And when they came for "his body", in truth, his father came to destroy the body. They burned him miles out. Kyle was a disgrace to the pack and his family. All because he fell in love with the wrong girl. He was completely awestruck with the thing that would cause him his destruction.
Everyone begins arriving and I notice Liam comes last.
Why were you late? I ask gently. I need him on my side in the fight.
It's been two years since Kyle's death. He murmurs and I rest my muzzle against his.
He's looking down at you. I say and walk to my ledge.
Today, we train. We are preparing for a battle against a witch. She can create an army at the snap of a finger. I growl and everyone nods their heads.
Don't let her army wrap their arms around you, they can instantly kill you by crushing your major organs. Snap at their heads. The easiest way to kill.
Everyone nods their large heads and I lean forward.
In this battle, it's only us and the few DarkMoon members. This pack is not on our side. I say and their eyes widen.
Why? Declan asks and I look down to Luke.
Alexa is not our Ally. She has decided to stay out of the fight. He says, and it sounds like he's trying to not make her sound bad.
Because she is a coward. Killing this witch guarantees that our children and their children will live freely. I guess Alexa doesn't want her children to live freely. I snarl.
And that's where you are wrong, Brother. Alexa growls as she walks to stand below me.
She knows her place. My wolf growls happily.
Alexa, I growl and she bares her teeth at me.
Kane. I didn't want to fight, because I have my own battle here. She says quietly and I look at my pack.
Head to my house. Wait for me there. I command and Luke leads them. What battle? I ask.
I'm barren, Kane. She says and I still.
How is this possible? I ask and she lowers her head.
When I was taken by Tyler, he forced himself. It destroyed me. She tells me and I stand still. A savage snarl twists my muzzle and my glowing golden eyes turn towards the pack house.
Kane don't. Alexa screams when she realizes what I am going to do. I ignore her pleas and I take off at a run.A growl rumbles from low in my belly at the thought of what that monster did to my sister.
And for me to be so cruel to her, I think and I snarl loudly. My fur begins to bristle when I catch Tyler's scent. I see him talking with Dallas and I let out a challenging howl. Tyler's head whips around and his eyes turn pale golden. He shifts into the largest shifter I've seen, but it doesn't faze me. I bare my fangs and Tyler growls in response. Dallas begins to come until Tyler turns with a snarl. Dallas stands back and shifts. He stands at almost the same height as Tyler but a few inches off. His ears flatten against his head and his eyes look around warily. I didn't want to begin snapping. I knew one wrong bite could end my life. So I play it off. Then suddenly I leap, throwing my body at his with such force that I thought our bones would shatter. Tyler yelps in surprise as I knock him to the ground. He recovers quickly then we circle each other, watching for an opening, waiting for any sign of weakness. He lunges and we roll with the force. We push away from each other. Gashes mar my right side, while a flap of torn flesh hangs from Tyler's chest.
Tyler lunges again, but I dodge the attack. I wheel around and strike Tyler's flank, tearing out another chunk of flesh. Tyler howls in pain as blood spurted from his body. I strike again, but this time Tyler was ready for me, kicking his back legs high. He catches me in the face. The blow sends me crashing back. I land with a loud crack into a tree, my body folding around the wood. The tree's trunk splintered with the force of the impact.
I shake my head in an attempt to clear my jarred senses as I scramble to my feet. While I still wasn't out of the fight, the blow had dazed me.
Tyler didn't hesitate. He thunders towards me, never slowing as he hits me. He uses my body to break through the already-stressed wood. The trunk splits in two when Tyler drove me into the next tree.
We slam into the trees and are thrown apart. Tyler lands on his feet, muscles quivering in anticipation of the next attack. I am lying on the ground, my head hanging low.
Without hesitation, the RedRock Alpha lunged at me. I slide beneath him, using his large size against him.
Tyler was on his back, pinned under me. The rival alpha writhes beneath my weight, kicking and struggling. I ignore Tyler's desperate attempts to free himself. My jaws were around Tyler's neck and they were slowly closing. Tyler cried out, a half howl, half shriek that became a gurgle as I crushed his throat.
Tyler stopped struggling. I lift Tyler's limp body in my jaws and with one swing of my large head, I toss the RedRock's carcass aside. I look up and see the horror in Dallas' eyes. Jenifer, Tyler's sister, walks out.
"Tyler!" She screams and she falls to her knees, staring at Dallas with wide, brimming eyes. They slowly turn to me, and the pain turns to hatred. Alexa lopes towards us and River walks out of the pack house.
"Kane!" He barks and my wolf snarls at his tone. He is not my Alpha. My wolf growls and I agree.
"Why?" He simply asks and I shift back. I stand straight, with no remorse in my voice.
"He raped Alexa," I answer and Jenifer laughs.
"That's not true. It was consensual, right, Alexa?" Her voice cracks at the end and Alexa looks away. She had her answer.
"Kane, that matter would have been solved with the Council. You didn't have to take matters into your own hands." He says and I begin laughing.
"What? That he'd be barred from having a female for a year. That's not punishment for ruining a female." I snarl and his green eyes snap to Alexa. She shifts back and stands beside me.
"I stand with him. He had a justified reason." She says and Dallas stands from where he was beside Jenifer. He looks at River then me.
"I stand with him. Tyler did force himself on Alexa, he did it because he wanted an heir and the only fertile female in our pack is his sister." Dallas says and he stands on my left. River just laughs.
"I'm the acting Alpha here. You are just a visiting Alpha." He starts and I snarl.
"Speaking of you, I'm taking my right back," I growl and River steps back.
"You can't do that." He cries and I laugh.
"I can and I will," I answer and I hear a low hum of agreements. I turn and see the pack had come, both RedHills and BloodiedPeaks. They all knew I was the true Alpha. It wasn't Alexa nor River. It's always been me. I am the first born of the Sinclair children. I am given the pack when I turn of age. Problem is, they believe that once the Alpha dies, the Beta takes over. Which is wrong. The Alpha's son takes over. There is no such thing as a female being the Alpha in charge. It's always the male. And this pack made their first mistake with River and now my sister. Today, I am making my change.
When I was given control of the RedHills, which are the sub-pack, I was given this pack too. They and the BloodiedPeak pack are the strongest together. Adding our cousin pack the Dark Moons, we are invincible. Unless we have a weak link among us. Then we would crumble.
