Chapter 24: The Cowardly B*tch

"So how are we going to finish off Lila Morelli?" Dec and Liam growl as we sit around a small fire on the cliff overlooking the Hayden border.
"Well, we're going out to my cousin's pack and hunting her down." I explain and the girls whisper among themselves. "What?" I snap and Kaye looks at me.
"We were wondering if Alexa is coming along." She says and I look at the pack homes in the distance.
"She doesn't want to go with us." I answer and I look at the empty space beside me.
"I can talk her into it." Liam says and I look up. "She always listens when I talk to her. I can always convince her." He says and I shake my head.
"She's being a coward." I growl and they all look at me with shock. I've never expressed my anger towards Alexa in front of them, but I've had it already.
Whenever it truly comes to helping someone other than herself, she backs away. I am done biting my tongue. She's so used to being called a prophesied shifter, but she knows I'm stronger. She knows I can take this pack from her in a heartbeat. My part of the RedHill pack may be small, but I have control over the entire pack. All I have to do is give them the word and they will come for a fight.

"When do we go?" Luke asks and I give him a nod.
"Waiting for Hayden's call." I say and he gives me a curt nod.

I am pleased to have him as my newest beta. Jason has deserted and is being hunted down. I hate the fact that I have to do it but I need to install order into the pack.

Everyone goes their own ways back to their homes but I call Luke back.
"I need to tell you something before I tell anyone," I say and he follows me.
"What is it?" He asks.
"Hayden's mate is cursed by this witch. I didn't realize it till after I agreed. This hunt is personal," I say and he gulps.
"Don't let anyone get hurt." I say and grasp his forearm. He returns the grasp and I nod.
"Will do Kane," he says and runs off. I begin walking towards my home, which wasn't too far.

I get inside and head straight to my room to begin packing. I grab two suitcases and fill them with a months worth of clothing. I grab my beretta from the closet and grab the specially made silver bullets. They were laced with some herb and it supposedly kills any supernatural creature it touches. I just hope it works against Lila.

I wake at 3 in the morning to my phone ringing.
"Hello?" I grumble as I sit up.
"Kane Sinclair?" A gruff voice answers and I look at the caller ID. It said Hayden's name.
"Who is this?" I snap and I feel my wolf come to the surface.
"Her mate. Don't hurt yourself over there." They answer sarcastically and I growl.
"What do you want?" I snap and he chuckles.
"Hayden's asked me to postpone the attack." He says and I get out of bed.
"Why?" I question and I hear a low moan in the background.
"There's your answer." He says and I roll my eyes.
