Chapter 23: Your Brother Wanna Fight Me

River and I spend the rest of the evening watching horror films. Halloween was right around the corner, which also meant my birthday and river's.
   I am turning 24, and River is turning 27 in about a week.

"What are we gonna do for your birthday?" He says as I move closer to him. We're watching It and I was terrified of Pennywise.
"We should have a pack party." I say and he groans.
I know he hates hates parties, even though I know his mother has tried to force him into liking them.
"Then we have a dinner the day after with the neighboring packs." He says and I nod.
"As long as you agree on having the party." I say and he growls but nods. I peck his lips and he smiles smugly. I push his head away playfully and he pulls me back to him. He kisses me gently and I take his bottom lip between my teeth. His hands grab my waist and he sits me on his hips.

  I begin to slowly grind my hips against him and I hear his low groan in response. And it fuels me to continue my slow torturous assault.

  He aggressively peppers kisses all over my jaw and neck while keeping my head tilted back by pulling back on my hair. I let out a breathy moan when I feel his teeth sink into my neck.

I don't know how, but now we are full out making out with River's shirt split down the middle. And my lips were quickly following the split. I bite softly at his abdomen and he lets out a raspy moan. He pulls me up to kiss my lips roughly.

I pause, hearing the gravel crunching outside. We pull apart, adjusting our clothing. We move away from each other, trying to put as much distance between us. Then I really pay attention to River.
"Go change your shirt." I say and he looks down.
"Shit!" He jumps up and runs up the stairs. I stay looking up the stairs. Did he not the feel the breeze?

I hear the front door open and my head snaps up, my body in a defensive stance.
"Calm down, I'm just here to check on River." Dylan says while keeping his hands up. My wolf settles down and I stand up. I walk towards him and hug him but he remains stiff.
"Why are you hugging me?" He asks nervously.
"I can't hug one of the people that has been keeping my pack safe?" I reply and he sighs.
"I'd do anything for the pack." He says and I laugh.
"I'm not saying you wouldn't. I'm just appreciating the fact." I say and pull away when I hear a snarl. Dylan looks up the stairs and quickly steps away from me.
"Alpha it's not what it looks like." He quickly mutters in submission.
"Leave Dylan." He growls and Dylan practically runs out the door. River's black eyes land on me and I gulp. I know I'm in for it now. So I do the stupidest thing I could do.

I ran.

I shift and shoot out like a bullet. I don't even wait to find out if he comes chasing after me. He knows it's a game we play, so I don't worry about getting hurt. Hell, he can't hurt me, even if he wanted to. Which I know he probably wants to at the moment.

I hear the pounding of paws behind me and I know he's chasing me now.
River...
Alexa...

I whirl around and he calmly stops in front of me. He presses his cheek to mine and I lick his ear. I feel a rumble come from his chest and I curl my tail around him. He rubs his head against my neck and I jump away. His sparkling green eyes follow my movements and he pins me to the ground. He rubs his muzzle against mine and I nip at his ear.

I leap up when I hear a loud roar coming from the house. I race back, fear making the fur along my spine rise.

My heart pounds against my chest at the thought of a secret attack occurring. I didn't want to lose my pack's trust when I just got it back. Then a terrible thought pops up in my mind, what if Blake is attacking? What if he is making the pack pay for me leaving? I shiver and I run faster. I hold a fear of the Gethen pack in my mind, knowing just how deadly they are.

I slow to a trot once we reach the house and I raise my muzzle to sniff. River stands beside me and he growls lowly.
Smells off. River growls lowly.
I know, smells like rogues.
I called Mason, he's on the way. River says while looking around.
I can't contact Kane. I say worriedly.
Neither can I, and I can't find any of the RedHills. He says and I try to connect with the one I know who will always answer me.
Liam? Are you there?
Alexa? What's wrong?
Something's off, and we can't find you guys anywhere.
Stay inside!
Liam? I call and I don't get an answer.
What's going on! I scream when I slowly feel him fading.
River let's stay inside. Something's wrong.
Fine, but I'm watching from the window.

  I shift back and quickly make my way inside the house. River walks close behind me, and I know his wolf is in control. He looks around as if he was in his wolf's form. His head was high and he was looking for any signs of danger. I grip his hand in my own and I bring him inside, despite his attempt to fight against me.

I gently press my lips to his, trying to distract him. It was the stupidest method, but it always works with him. He slowly relaxes into the kiss and I smile. He then turns rougher.

He was taking his anger out in the kiss. And I loved it. Craved it. I lived off of anger, it fed me. And whenever we kissed, and he was angry, I was high on it.

He bites my lip between his teeth and I let out a breathy moan. He lets out a low growl, and I tremble at the low sound. Without a word, he picks me up, throws me over his shoulder, and marches us up the stairs.

Kane's P.O.V

Kennedy and I have split after a week. She was too wild for me. She wanted to party and come home in the early hours. I couldn't live like that. So I've come to settle into a nice home on the outskirts of Alexa's territory. I didn't feel comfortable living near the BloodiedPeak pack, everyone else did. I just didn't like the fact they worked in a strange system.

I know I shouldn't be here, but I'm keeping her as safe as I can. I should be back home, but Alexa has brought the pack here. She wants us together and safe. And I won't argue.

I stay sitting on the couch with a glass of scotch whiskey in hand. I stare at the blank tv for what seems like hours until my phone begins to ring. I leap up and answer.
"Hello?"
"Hey cousin, we've got a witch problem." I hear in response and I already know who it is.
"Hayden, what are you talking about?" I ask and I can hear a low growl in the background.
"Turn to the news." She says and I do. And it shows children showing up missing.
"Ready to go witch hunting?" She asks and I go silent. Am I ready?
"I'll get Alexa. We'll fly out to see you." I say.
"Call me when you get to her." She says.

I pull on my shirt and run out the house. I kick it into overdrive and can see her home in the distance.

I run up the steps and into the house, that's when my overprotective side kicks in. I march up the stairs and find River hovering over Alexa. I grab him by the back of the neck and I drag him off.
"Kane stop it!" Alexa yells and I stop at the bottom of the stairs. My eyes narrow and I let him go.
"What are you doing here anyways?" Alexa asks and I motion to the living room.
"I need to tell you something. In private." I add and River growls.
"Fine." Alexa agrees and River gives her a look. She ignores it and follows me in.

"What's so important?" She snaps and I growl.
"Hayden called me." I say and she sits up.
"And? What did she say?" She asks and I bite down on my lip.
"I was supposed to call her when I find you." I say and she rolls her eyes. I grab my phone and redial her number.
"Alright Hay, we're together." I say and I hear her let out her breath.
"We need to get that witch." She says and Alexa looks at me.
"And how do we do that?" Alexa asks.
"We track her down. Take her out." She explains and I nod.
"Haven't had much excitement this year, might as well try to find her." I say and Alexa looks at me then the door.
"We'll go to you." Alexa says.
"I'll see you then." Hayden says then hangs up.

"What were you thinking!" Alexa explodes the moment I hang up.
"She wanted our help Alexa! That's our family!" I scream back and she slaps me.
"You did not just-" I don't even finish before I see a fist flying at my face. I grab it in mine and my eyes burn with anger. River's face contracts in pain and I slowly begin to crush his hand.
"Don't start with me, wolf. Cause I can end you right now." I snarl and push him to the ground.
"You know what Alexa, I'll just take my pack with me. And if Hayden asks, I'm saying how much of a coward you are!" I yell before leaving.
