"Thorin... I can make it. This quest is not too dangerous for me. You know I'm a skilled archer," I protested as we approached the hobbit hole.
"No, (Y/n), you cannot. We both know I could not bare to risk your life. You must stay here." The circular door opened to let us enter the homely little residence. After my short conflict with Thorin, I only smiled when I caught the glance of the Great Gandalf. The hobbit introduced himself as "Baggins, Bilbo Baggins" and led me into the dining room with the rest of the company. I was met with an abundance of familiar faces and only a few I did not know.
"Kili, she's beautiful, ain't she?" his chestnut-haired brother Fili asked with a nudge of an elbow. The man's chocolaty eyes met mine only for a brief second. His mind faltered for a moment, distracted from the merry goings-on around him. Fili had just made a big mistake. For the entire quest up until we were captured by the elves and held prisoner at Mirkwood, Kili did his best to show off and protect me. It ended up getting us hurt more times than one.
"Damn.." Fili cursed himself. All of the dwarves around us were shouting various protests as the elves shoved us into the cells. I had gotten placed with Kili.
"Oh, well at least it's you and not your brother," I smiled and threw a small stone at him, taking my place beside him on the stone floor. He looked at me through his long dark locks.
"For once I'm glad I'm not paired with my brother," he chuckled. I gave him a quizzical look and nudged for him to explain. "I've been waiting to be alone with you for quite a while." He took my hand in his, to which I allowed because I had my fair share of attraction to the childish boy.
"I get it now," I giggled and leaned in close to his lips. "But not yet." And with that, I pulled away. We sat there for what seemed like ages with our fingers laced together. My eyelids were droopy and he offered to let me sit on his lap to lean on his chest.
No sooner had I closed my eyes when I heard the mumbling of a redhead elf. She was asking Kili why I was sitting on his lap. I fake yawned to turn my head and get a glimpse of her face, now wrought with jealousy.
She scoffed as I cuddled nearer to him and he wrapped his arms around to keep me warm. Her footsteps echoed through the halls as she pressed on in annoyance. (Lol cockblock)
I thought about what our future held in store for us. It only made me cringe. I shouldn't have come, but I pressed Thorin to let me anyways. "Are you okay?" Kili asked quietly, petting my hair softly.
I wrapped my arms around him and buried my face in the crook of his neck. No way was I gonna let him see my face as I cried. I let out muffled sobs and whimpers. "I-I'm scared.."
"My dear (Y/n), I would be lying if I said that any of us were prepared for the ending of this quest." He held me closer and rocked me back and forth. The swaying motion helped soothe my worries. I would be fine as long as he was by my side. "Kili... I love you."
The words slipped but I did not regret it. "How could you say that?" He asked, genuinely surprised. "I mean.. how could you love a dwarf like me?"
"Just because I can," I smiled, wiping my tears and leaning in to kiss him. His eyes closed immediately and he melted into the kiss. Soon I felt his tongue graze my lower lip and I gladly let him dominate my mouth. We had to part for air reluctantly. "Don't worry, no harm will come to you. I swear by my life."
We continued talking and making jokes until we saw a certain Hobbit appear to unlock our cells. "Bilbo! Wher've you been?" I whispered anxiously.
"Nowhere in particular. Now follow me." We followed him through the halls into a wine cellar. One of the dwarves moaned in complaint.
