"What?" Isabelle said with disbelief.
Here comes the hug, Clary thought.
"Clary..." Izzy trailed off and sure enough pulled Clary into a hug.
And there it is, Clary thought again.
"I'm here for you if you need anything," Izzy murmured into Clary's hair.
"Thanks, Iz," Clary whispered. In the corner of her eye, Clary saw Dr. Rorish standing patiently in the corner. "I'll talk to you later okay, I have to go," Clary said.
"Okay," Izzy nodded. "Call me whenever," she said turning and walking out of the hospital.
"Ready?" Dr. Rorish called.
"Yeah," Clary sighed pulling her purse up her shoulder and started walking towards Dr. Rorish, Jace trailing behind her. They walked into her office to find three people standing there.
"Clary, Jace, meet your treatment team." Dr. Rorish said.
Clary looked around and suddenly everything became too real. Looking around the room at the treatment team, Dr. Rorish, it caused a huge wave of reality and realization. She became suddenly aware of everything chemotherapy, radiation, hair loss, and it was too much. "Nice to meet you all," Clary said putting on her best fake smile that could almost fool Jace. "I'm sorry I just need some air," she said and walked out of the room and made her way out to the sidewalk. Two minutes later Jace came out.
"Hey," Jace said standing next to her. "I would hug you but I have a feeling that you are sick of hugs."
Clary laughed at how well he knew her. She turned to her left and hugged him anyway. "I'll never be sick of your hugs," she murmured against his chest.
Jace simply kissed the top of her head and they stayed like that for seconds. "Tell me what's wrong," Jace said quietly.
"Everything," Clary whispered. "It's just all too... real..."
"I know. It is for me too. But you know what else I know?" Jace continued, "That your strong, and your a fighter. We'll get through this, I promise."
Clary nodded holding in her tears.
"Ready to go back in there?" Jace said pulling away.
"Yeah," Clary said sighing, "I think so." And with that they headed back inside together.
