The man and Red walked through Route 1 and headed for Viridian City. Red first checked the Pokemon center to heal Charmander and check his stats before going.
Red: Okay Charmander, we need to be strong before proceeding to the place.
Charmander: Char!
Red approached the man and they both went to the place.
Man: Oh, how rude of me! I forgot to tell you my name! I am Geoffrey, or just call me Mr. Jeff. I will now show you the place.
They arrived at a dome, just north of the town's Pokemart.
Red: What are we going to do here?
Mr. Jeff: I am going to enter you into a Pokemon Catching Contest! Today is the only day they opened, and it would take a year before they come back here.
Red: Oh, I see. So what am I going to do here?
Mr. Jeff: You will have to choose one pokemon from your team, then they will give you pokeballs, to help catch a pokemon! The number of points that you will receive is equivalent to the style that you caught it, so in the end you may keep a Pokemon you caught. Understand?
Red: Affirmative, but I am only a beginner! I dont know how to catch a pokemon.
Mr. Jeff: It would be easy! Come on, lets go in.
As they entered the dome, Red saw many trainers like Youngsters, Lasses, Campers, and Hikers.
Red: Woah, these contest surely is a big one. I cant barely wait!
Red registered through the counter, and Mr. Jeff stayed outside to watch him catch his second pokemon. The marshall gave Red 10 pokeballs, and he was asked to roam around the field.
Red: Here it comes! Charmander! Lets go search our second pokemon!
Charmander: Char!
He roamed around the dome's field, hoping to see a pokemon. Then by the near waterfall, he found a Weedle.
Red: There goes one! Charmander, use Scratch!
SCRATSSZZ! The Weedle was inflicted by the damage. It retaliated with Poison Sting to poison Charmander. With Charmander poisoned, Red had no choice but to catch the Weedle alone. He finally stopped with his pokeball count dropped to 4.
Red: Alright! you won Weedle. Sigh... When will I catch a pokemon?
He decided to walk out of the field and there he found an Antidote lying on the ground. He then used it to his buddy. After his hope is lost, he finds a Pidgey that has a wound on its wing.
Red: Are you alright, buddy?
Pidgey: Pidge... Pidge...
Red was filled with sympathy as he used a Potion to heal its wound. The pokemon was back to its healthy state, but it seems like it had developed a friendship with Red!
Red: What? You want me to be your companion? Okay!
He threw a pokeball at the Pidgey, and it was caught.
What a turn out of events this time! What will happen next to our hero after he caught his second pokemon, a Pidgey?!
