2 Months in Sophomore year-
"What did you get for three?" My best friend Melody whispered to me. Science class, our 3rd period, was not Melody's cup of tea. I sighed and looked up from my quiz at her,
"I can't let you cheat, Mel!"
Just as I finished my sentence, our science teacher, Mr. Pierce, turned and said sternly to me,
"Miss Mula, this is the last straw. You talk to much during my class. Please move to the back of the class next to Mr. Lenny."
"But Mr. Pierce I..."
"No!"He said, cutting me off,"Move Eliza."
I hung my head and slowly walked to the back of the class. I threw my books onto the desk and completed the last few questions of my science quiz.
When I was done with my quiz, I looked up at Lenny. He was staring at me, but not in a weird way. I slightly smiled and ripped a piece of paper out of my notebook. I wrote,
"Hi. I'm Eliza."
I slid the paper towards him shyly. Lenny grabbed the paper and smiled. He picked up his pen and wrote back,
"I know. I'm Lenny Smith,"
"I know. Your deaf right?"
I knew the answer, but yet I still asked.
"Yes."
"Why did you move to a school that isn't for deaf people?"
"My family moved for my dads job. There's no good schools for the deaf around here, so I agreed to go to a public school."
"Oh."
"Ya, my mom thinks I have a ton of friends.;)"
I looked at the last thing he wrote in confusion, he really didn't have any friends.
"Why?"
"I don't want her to worry about me, you know?"
"Yes, I can understand where you are coming from."
I started to write more right as the bell rang. Mr. Pierce started to yell at us to hand in our papers and right as I grabbed my books, Lenny was gone, so was my paper, which really confused me. I looked around and saw Lenny handing in our two papers to Mr. Pierce. I smiled to myself as I grabbed my books. Maybe this seat move won't be the worst thing ever.
